A valuable reference work,
By Francisco Bernardo Regino E. (Dominican Republic) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Encyclopedia of Slave Resistance and Rebellion [Two Volumes] [2 volumes]: Greenwood Milestones in African American History (Hardcover)
This encyclopedia is a valuable reference work, and I recommend it.An observation on Vol. 1, p. 165, reads: "Leclerc died of yellow fever in April 7, 1803, and was replaced by French General Jean-Baptiste Rochambeau, Whom Dessalines and his troops fought battles in cleverly executed." In this paragraph there is a misprint, as the date of the death of General Victor Leclerc was on November 2, 1802. Who died on April 7, 1803 was Toussaint Louverture, a prisoner of Napoleon Bonaparte, in Fort de Joux, France. Francisco Bernardo Regino E. (Dominican Republic). |
