More About the Author

R. Michael Wilson, after 24 years of service with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, retired in 1992. He began researching and writing in earnest and his first fictional work was published in 1996. However history was his first love, particularly crime and punishment, and in 1998 he began researching massacres, stagecoach and train robberies, legal and extra-legal executions, and prisons of the old west. Five articles have been published in Wild West Magazine and he has been featured in radio interviews, on the History Channel's "Wild West Tech" series, and was recently [April 2009] interviewed for Warner Bros.' release of the remastered "Mad Max" movie DVD. In addition to his books and magazine articles he maintains a web site of odd historical tidbits and thrilling tales at www.wildwesttales.com. He is an active member of Western Writers of America and the Wild West History Association. He continues to search for those exceptional cases of "history lost" and makes every effort to document them as far as the existing record will allow. His greatest dissappointment is history which has been misrepresented or manipulated. You can see more of R. Michael Wilson's work in documenting old west history at www.wildwesttales.com. R. Michael Wilson currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada with his wife Ursula and three "furry" children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Done, December 11, 2004
This review is from: Encyclopedia of Stagecoach Robbery in Arizona (Hardcover)
I love the old west and its history, rich in exiting events, but so much of what has been published or filmed is filled with myth or misrepresentation. Therefore, I was pleased to find a book on one of the most exciting periods of the old west with details that ensure accuracy and honesty. Stagecoaching has been presented before, but never so completely as in the Encyclopedia of Stagecoach Robbery in Arizona. There are some stories included which have little to say about the event, except to record that a robbery occurred, but the completeness of the other stories shows that these few must have been all the documentation the author could find. For the first time I have a clear picture of stagecoach robbery in the old west, at least in Arizona, and I hope other books on this subject in other states will follow.
