An excellent reference book,

This review is from: The Encyclopedia of World Costume (Hardcover)
This book is an excellent point from which to start research. Published in encyclopedia format, defining words in alphabetical order, this book covers historical and cultural costumes and accessories. Primarily in black and white, most of the definitions are accompanied by inked illustrations, which show wonderful detail. This book does not subdivide itself into major costume periods, however most definitions do show examples from all major periods with literature on the origins and changes of that paritcular item. The detail given to accessory item is particularly helpful, as this is often overlooked in many general reference books.I think this book would be an excellent general reference guide to any costume library.
