I found this book on sale for under $20 at Barnes & Noble, and looked it up online to see the list price because it appears to be a $70-$80 book!!! To my surprise I found the same discounted price online. The description can't do this collection justice. Its worth every penny and more!

I'm not sure where I got this book from but it is very, very nice. The photos are beautiful and the descriptions of the animals very adequate.
One person said that the book is "good for kids". Well, it may be. But the book is clearly designed with adults in mind. The descriptions occasionally use some terminology that a child would not understand, and therefore a child would not gain much benefit from it unless they just want to look at pictures - for which purpose I would buy an actual kid's book instead. This is, essentially, an encyclopedia. The only reason why i have given it 4 stars is because it is not expansive enough. There are many species in the world which are not featured in this book. Add more key species, and the book would get 5 stars. May I also recommend that these wildlife encyclopedia publishers consider launched an "e-Encyclopedia" at some point. Books are rapidly becoming a thing of the past these days- so a DVD-ROM encyclopedia or an App or eBook would make much more profit, and much more sense! Just an idea!

We got this book for our daughter who was 2 yrs old at the time and it quickly became her favorite. We made up signs and looked at the book for hours, which was still enjoyable for us. Now we have a 16 month old and he seems to like it even better. It has wonderful pictures and the information is pretty good. I would recommend it for any kid up to 10+ yrs old. It is a great way to generate interest in wildlife for your young kids (if you do not mind a couple of ripped pages, which is why we are getting new copies).
