Whenever I am down or am just having the worst day in the world, I usually need to read or watch something funny. A lot of times I read comics like Calvin and Hobbes and FoxTrot. FoxTrot is always funny and is able to get more than a laugh or two out of me. Here is another excellent FoxTrot collection by the great Bill Amend; "Encyclopedias Brown and White."

There's more chaos and insanity going on in the Fox household than ever before. Jason is aggravating his sister, Paige, Roger is driving his wife up the wall, and Peter is eating just about anything he can get his hands on. They are still just as outrageous as ever and can still surprise us even when we think they can't do any better.

Some of the stuff you will find in this collection:
*Peter's cell phone
*Detectives Jason and Marcus tries to solve a crime
*Roger and his homemade wine
*Paige's Robo-Pup
*Varsity e-football (wha?)
*Nosecracker dreams, and much more!

I found this collection of FoxTrot comics to be extremely funny and entertaining. Amend never ceases to be funny and is always looking for something new and clever to write. These collections are also very easy to read over and over again, without it losing any of it's humor. Jason driving his sister insane is always fun to see!

So if you love FoxTrot, then "Encyclopedias Brown and White" is the one for you. Filled with witty humor, outrageous situations, and memorable lines, this is a great read for anyone who's looking for a little humor and entertainment.

The second surprise I found when I got this book was is ize. I was expecting the, now, standard size for cartoons books and found this. I loved the size. The first surprise was the book story line. Hilarious!!! FUN FROM BEGIN TO THE LAST STRIP!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just how I remember it!, February 4, 2002

I've been a fan of Fox Trot since Peter Fox and I were both the same age...and that was a while ago...What is great about this comic strip is that the humor comes from the relationships the characters have with each other. Also, although obviously amplified, many of the premises for the situations are very believable (I, like Jason, had a secret crush- and swore to slug the boy if he ever told, when I was around 10...or was it last year?...um...); these characters go beyond typical stereotypes and have clearly defined characteristics- Amend makes sure the little details, such as the silly posters hanging in their rooms, help convey his characters' personalities. My favorite, of course, is Jason, but I can identify with all of them: Paige, Peter, Roger and Andy, Marcus, Nicole, Denise and Steve...Even Ms. O'Malley!
The Camp Foxtrot collection is probably my favorite, but all the others do not lag behind. This collection brings back the friends Jason made at Camp Bohrmore in an exciting whoddunit (complete with bubble-making pipe).
You can tell Amend has fun doing this (keep an eye out for all the newspaper headlines featuring the successful exploits of a certain cartoonist)- and is a great observer, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best comic strip in current publication, August 16, 2002
This review is from: Encyclopedias Brown and White: A FoxTrot Collection (Paperback)
Amend has yet to disappoint. FoxTrot is consistently the best comic strip in current publication, and this collection is an enjoyable addition to the body of work.

Amend's characters are genuinely likable, not at all preachy, and easily identified with. The fact that Amend and I are roughly the same age may have something to do with it, but I find my interests largely coincide with many of the characters' interests, making the strip a daily joy. I have one unread collection, His Code Name Was The Fox, on my shelf, saved for a time when I need some cheering.

Do yourself a favor and treat your mind to an enjoyable visit to the FoxTrot universe.

Foxtrot is finally getting to the point where the strips seem familiar even when they are brand new. Still, it's one of my favorite strips for the charactors and brand of humor... and I'll keep reading (and buying!) until this one turns into another Garfield or fades off into the sunset like C&H.

Jason, Paige and Peter just keep getting funnier and funnier with every new collection. It's amusing to watch Jason dealing with pre-puberty - he just can't deal with the fact that he's actually attracted to a (gasp) girl! As with the previous collection, "Death by Field Trip," this is in a smaller-size format than the older collections, but as far as I can tell it's the same number of strips, and the smaller size makes it easier to hide behind your textbooks when you want to read it in class!

5.0 out of 5 stars A whimsical collection, January 11, 2002
This review is from: Encyclopedias Brown and White: A FoxTrot Collection (Paperback)
Fans of the newspaper cartoon Foxtrot are in for a surprise in this collection, which portrays the sleuthing duo of Jason and Marcus as they follow clues to finding a thief. Encyclopedia Brown And White provides a whimsical collection of their unusual sleuthing abilities in a title all ages will enjoy.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

The actual stealing of Phobe's notebook, the inept investigations by Jason and Marcus, the final everybody accuses everybody, and the revelation that Eugene is guilty combine to make this book worth five Quincys. (I do deplore the fact that Amend has reduced the number of cartoons per book, however).

5.0 out of 5 stars My birthday gift, February 19, 2011

On my birthday (11 days ago) I asked mom to give me the FoxTrot collections, because I read some of them before, and it was pretty good.
This collection with the cover showing Jason and Marcus burning ants, is one of my favorites, due to Phoebe coming over for summer and repeating the science camp thing all over again. It also carries comic strips about Roger making his own home-made wine and Jason competing against with his family computer, IFruit. Also, there are strips about Peter getting a cell phone, and Paige, a Robo-pup.
Most of the strips end with another lessons for the characters, or with an unexpected answers to the story. Most of all, I get great joys when reading it, and I recommend it to EVERYONE.
P.s. Literally EVERYONE
