4.0 out of 5 stars Coconuts, April 13, 2000
By
Jim F Boos (Bequia, West Indies) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The End of A1A (Paperback)
I was really hoping to have a book to read for several nights but I was disappointed that I ran out of pages after two nights. I was also disappointed that there wasn't more sex, but then again that isn't as important as it once was. Knowing something about the place (Key West) and the life (charter skipper, etc.) Dave writes about, it all felt so familiar only Dave was taking us into those hidden corners of life that one would otherwise overlook. I'm waiting for him to personally deliver me his new book. I'll be standing under the third coconut tree from the east end of the beach.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The End is just the beginning....", November 23, 2007
This review is from: The End of A1A (Paperback)
Capt'n Dave is the roving, rolicking, rascal that sweeps up all the women in his vortex of words, wisdom and wit. To sail with him is an adventure, he will take his boat (or yours) to impossible places no one else ever quite managed to find without making a new pass through the reef. To drink with him is to fill your bar with stories you can never quite remember-accurately, but will never quite forget. This collection of stories is some of his best-and worst! Not many of us have the opportunities (or cojoines) to go where he's gone, see what he's seen and do it all...and still be ripe for more. This book should be a serial journal for all who want to escape, whatever and whoever they are.
Captain Conrad, author "GOLD BARS"

5.0 out of 5 stars The End of A1A, May 17, 2000
This review is from: The End of A1A (Paperback)
The End of A1A is one of those rare gems that completely captures the reader's attention and transports them to another world. The author makes you laugh, dream and cry with his, often first hand, accounts of life in Key West and the seas which surround this tiny island of diverse souls. It left this reader not only dreaming of moving but wanting to sit down and talk to this humorous, soulful and articulate author.
