4.0 out of 5 stars A great rock debut. A very easy Listen
This is a great debut album for this fantastic Perth 4 peice band. This self titled first Album is a very catchy mix of rock and poppy tunes with odd ballard thrown in for good measure.
Stand outs are without doubt the very popular 'Rough Diamonds' which is just a great catchy tune that has everything, 'Anymore', the pop hit 'Oh Yeah' and the slower 'Seize the Day'...

3.0 out of 5 stars Glammy, Poppy, but Forgettable
I really wanted to love this disc and I can't tell if it's the production or the mix that really gets on my nerves. Despite that, there are some really catchy tracks on here. Check out "Oh Yeah" and "The Game".

Justin Burford is the lead singer, hailing from the Sleepy Jackson previosly has a sensational, distinct voice that could almost sound Daniel Johns like.
This isn't the greatest rock album ever made, because it doesn't test any new barriers, but not a poor album at allI have found it very catchy.

All in all a very solid album that can easily be listened through and can be turned up loud when needed. Not one bad song on the album.
I would say some bigger and better to come. Give it a listen.

Mike

4.0 out of 5 stars Love it! Love it!, March 21, 2006
This review is from: End of Fashion (Audio CD)
I bought this album after hearing the 2nd single 'Lock up your daughters' and a live performance shown on TV in Aus. I was so impressed I rushed out and bought it. I really enjoy this album - it has been in and out of my CD player for the last few weeks. Justin Burfords vocals are terrific. In 'Anymore', (a lovely ballad that I can't stop playing), Justin sounds quite Jeff Bukleyesque. All the songs are really strong - the only one I FF is 'The Game'. The real standouts (for me) are 'Rough Diamonds', 'Lock up your daughters' and 'In Denial'. The album's rockier tracks have a real sense of fun and party/sing a long feel - with alot of 'Da Da Da's' and 'On and On and On' (on 'Oh Yeah' - quite funny to hear the bad members cracking up at the kids singing along at the end).
Music is really difficult to recommend. People have such different tastes and can like different aspects of the one album. I guess for me, the strength of a good album is when a group of people all like it. I put this album on at my workplace and everyone thought it was pretty good.
So, if you like alternative rock that is not hard on the ears - this is the one!

1.0 out of 5 stars Please enter a title for your review, May 26, 2006

End Of Fashion is the worst local alt-rock i've heard in a long time. They can't match Jet for rudimentaryness, of The Vines for sheer musical ineptitude, but their riffs, chord progressions, and melodies seem expertly crafted to utterly reject harmonic flow without replacing it with dissonance, creating the kind of musical black hole that only the worst britpop can achieve.
