4.0 out of 5 stars Epic Metal
This is a very powerful, melodic, and epic-sounding metal release from these Finnish lads. Fast, precise drumming, good guitar work and black-metal type vocals (along with some clean vocals). A comparison to this band would be recent Borknagar. Quality stuff, if a bit repetitive at times. If you like Children of Bodom, Borknagar, etc., you will probably dig this.

This was quite possibly the worst CD I've ever listened to.

I thought gangsta rap was bad. I thought getting a root canal without anaesthetic was bad. This CD was worse than listening to gangsta rap while getting a root canal without anaesthetic!

The lead singer sounds like something demonic. I kept expecting to see the devil himself appear...

I picked this album up at random while at the store one time. I was pretty wary since I'm usually not much of a doom metal person. I was wrong, this is definitely a good album for the overall metal fan. If you are not into darker bands, you will probably not like this album. The progression of songs is interesting too, as the vocals switch from death to clean often. There are epic sounding songs, as well as thrash/speed sounding songs as well. I think it works out well. This is by far not one of the most defining metal albums to date, but it's certainly a good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff, December 2, 2006

Contrary to some reviewers opinions, I found this to be a top notch Metal album. A familiarity with the Black and Thrash Metal sub-genre's would be a bonus when deciding to purchase the CD. There isn't much point if you don't care for extreme Metal in the first place. Take it from a vehement Metal fan: This is a solid and entertaining release. At first this CD sounds very much like Norway's Ancient. As the album progresses, however, the riffing becomes more solid, the songs speed up and they restructure into a Kalmah, or Eternal Tears of Sorrow-esque Blackened Thrash Metal style. I would recommend this release for fans of the aforementioned bands and give hails to the mighty Finnish Twilight Opera.

This style of music is a flavour of symphonic black metal. I'm not sure why a couple of the other reviewers bought it - it seems they didn't know what they were in for as they seem to have bought this because of the album cover.

I've followed this band for quite some time now and I find that this is one of their best albums, and certainly a worthy listen and buy.

Now I usually don't like black metal but this is an exception. It's got great throat-ripping vocals and I love the melody.

I kept expecting to see the devil himself appear while listening to this. It is impossible to understand a single word being sung, so the lyrics are included. Not that it matters since the lyrics are totally senseless and moronic anyway.

Opacous dungeons of Plutonian halls
Vomit her demonettes of scorn
Serpents of incest, stygian thralls
To witness avenging goddess born.

Huh?

I had to turn it off after listening to 4 tracks because it caused my heart to pound and my blood pressure to rise... and not in the pleasant way like when riding a roller coaster ride or having sex.

This CD is sure to have much appeal to the adolescent "Future Mass Murderers of America" crowd. You know, the ones who think it's "cool" to bring loaded guns to school. But if you know of anyone over the age of 15 who actually enjoys this garbage, then RUN don't walk away from them as fast as you can...

This isn't music at all. It sounds like truck brakes that need to be replaced, or like the death screams of people caught in a devastating train wreck, their mangled bodies crying out in agony.

A CD like this should not be tossed aside lightly: it should be hurled with great force....

I applaud Anne Kathleen for her insightful review of this CD. A friend at work suggested I listen to this. When he got out of the hospital, I gave it back to him. In pieces.
