Help save lives by helping yourself,
This review is from: End Malaria (Kindle Edition)
If you're a fan of Seth Godin and other motivational, inspirational writers then you will find 'End Malaria' a real treat.
Packed full of short essays, tips and insights from over 60 of the world's leading thinkers and business brains, the purpose of this book is not only to inspire and engage the reader to bigger and better things in their own life but to actually participate in a much higher purpose by saving the lives of others. Released on 7th September 2011 as part of 'End Malaria Day' - $20 dollars (around £12 GBP) from each physical copy sold (and the full amount of each Kindle version) will be donated to 'Malaria No More', an international advocacy organisation on a mission to end malaria-related deaths by 2015. This money will be used to pay for mosquito nets which are proven to be one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce deaths and increase life expectancy in malaria-ridden countries. Please buy this book and play your part in saving lives today.

No Excuses,

This review is from: End Malaria (Kindle Edition)
This book contains great contributions from smart authors -- they'll inspire you to do better work, become an artist and a leader, and truly make an impact in the world. I loved it, and that's a fact. But to be honest, that's not why you should buy it.
Almost anyone reading this can spare $20. If you can't (and please think seriously about it if you think that's the case), you can afford 20 minutes of emailing and tweeting and blogging about it. Every sale of this book saves lives -- real people's lives -- and that makes it a no brainer. If 100,000 books get sold, 4 million lives get saved. You have no excuse to bow out; your internet connection suggests that your life is full of luxuries that most of us will likely take for granted. $20 is a few cups of coffee. Buy the book. Benefit from the content. And make the difference.

+1 for this great book, -1 for malaria,
By
This review is from: End Malaria (Paperback)
Mosquitoes have always had a thing for my wife Jolie. When she contracted malaria, we lived on a hospital ship in West Africa. During two bed-ridden weeks, she was well-cared for--eventually making a complete recovery and remembering to wear bug spray more often. Unfortunately, many others aren't as lucky. Let's end malaria for everyone. This book can help.

Change the world and yourself,
This review is from: End Malaria (Kindle Edition)
Read down the list of 62 authors contributing essays to this book. Did you? If you are like me then you have probably read books by at least 20 of these people, follow all of them on Twitter, and read and tag nearly every blog post they produce. This is a fantastic collection of wisdom from some of the brightest minds thinking today. This alone is worth the price of admission. I've already pulled a few nuggets of wisdom from these pages and that was just a cursory pass.
Knowledge and improvement aside, this book also adds the component of social good. The vast majority of the money earned on this book (100% of the Kindle addition!) goes to fight Malaria. How can you do better today than saving a life? Help others, improve your life, and buy this book!

The ultimate win-win,
This review is from: End Malaria (Paperback)
This is one of those books that should have been published long ago, but no one had the courage to make it a reality. I applaud Michael Bungay Stainer, Seth Godin, and the entire team at the Domino Project for choosing to take a leap for such an important cause -- ending malaria deaths in Africa.
This book couldn't be more of a win-win. You give back while getting invaluable advice. You save lives while enriching your own.

Five Stars for a Clever Idea and Clever Stories,
By Melissa G Wilson "Melissa G Wilson" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: End Malaria (Kindle Edition)
I will start out by sharing that I am part of the Domino Street Team who helps promote books. It's hard to keep up with the many books that Seth brings to the public along with my day job of running a publishing and author coaching firm. However, I did take my holiday weekend and read this book. I found it to be strong and insightful--filled with a variety of stories that build the themes of leadership, making a difference, inspiration and business artistry, to name a few.
However, what is amazing about this book goes well beyond its individual chapters. It is really about the BIG IDEA at its core. It's about ENDING the terrible plight of people who get Malaria and die as a result. I know I would be one of the people as I am so allergic to insect bites that I would not last a night in the conditions many people in our world suffer through every day. Further, the BIG IDEA presented by the author here is so compelling that I already bought four books for the presenters I asked to participate in a panel I am hosting next week for a worldwide event, Social Media Week ([...]), a free event that had 200,000 people involved last year. So, here is the logic of this book. What if 10,000 people buy the book resulting in two million people getting the help they need to save their lives? So the equation here is: Books + Caring + Brilliant Author-Thought Leaders + Creativity + Connection + Viralness = Saving Peoples' Lives! Awesome!

Good Advice/Great Karma,
This review is from: End Malaria (Paperback)
A great book, bought in for my kindle. Great words of wisdom from some of the best in the business--and wonderful to see them contributing to a great cause. If I read a chapter each day before going to the office, I hope to be inspired with new ideas about how to do more "great work" at work, like the intro says. Thanks to all the authors for their advice and for dedicated it to helping stop this global killer. Happy End Malaria Day!

Reading can save lives,
By
This review is from: End Malaria (Paperback)
When one buys a book normally is for selffish reason: to learn, to do work, for fun or simply because we can. End Malaria is the kind of books one would buy -or give as a gift- for the sole reason that has some of the best thinkers in the last decade writing short concise articles about work, life and everything in between, but there's more to it, starting from the title of the book. "End Malaria" is about education and self improvement, but also has a higher, noble reason: to save lives. While reading this book one can visualize thousand of children living in Africa and another development countries dying from something as simple as a mosquito bite.
We read to becomer better persons, and reading this book takes this aim to a new level, not only we will learn from the best, but also we'll have a direct an important impact in the lives of other can cannot help themselves. That's has to be the best reason one could have to read a book.
