4.0 out of 5 stars mixed feelings, July 9, 2002
This review is from: End of Sound (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of keepsake for some time, and when i first heard this CD, I thought it was absolute garbage (when compared to 'she hums like a radio', which was the only other CD of theirs I had heard.) My friend hated it too and so I bought it from him, and decided to give it another shot. I mean, keepsake WAS a great band, maybe I just wasn't paying attention. The more I listened, the more I got hooked on it. I really can't explain why, but it was very hard to put down. in the end, my friend decided he wanted to purchase the CD again. some songs, like 'The Beginning of the End of Sound', 'Girls Don't Know' and the remake of 'Wither', I adore, but songs like 'Math is Wrong' and whatever the second song is called are just too annoying for me. Since the singer became the main lyricist, the lyrics lost much of their harsh, angst-ridden emo tone, and moved into something much poppier. Keepsake is one of my favorite bands, and this while this certainly isn't their best album, it's worth a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Summer Sound, February 20, 2003

This is the ultimate CD to listen to in the summer, or is it just because that's when I discovered Keepsake? There is nothing like listening to this CD driving around with your friends with the windows down and just enjoying the lyrics and their awesome sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD STUFF, June 17, 2001

I will admit, when I first heard this record I wasn't too impressed by it. The vocals seemed annoying and generally I just wasn't quite sure what the band was trying to do. Then I got ahold of their first release "The things I would say" and something clicked, I went back to this album and the whole thing just fell into place and I started listening to it more and more. Granted, there are a few songs on this cd that make me cringe but overall its a rad cd chock full of poppy sing-a-longs, sharp hooks, and catchy rythms..definately not for the close minded hardcore kids.

4.0 out of 5 stars Further proof that the best music is underground music, January 11, 2001

If you are interested in a group that plays with every ounce of emotion they can muster then this album is certainly a must have. Is it a masterpiece, no but it certainly ranks high with the music I am currently listening to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unreal. Very talented., November 7, 2002

How can a band be emo/punk and hard core to the bone at the same time? I didn't really think it was possible until I happened upon Keepsake. They can play soft emo ballads, catchy pop-punk, or serious hard core. And sometimes, throw all three into one song. Sounds interesting huh? Maybe even too good to be true? Or maybe you are annoyed by the idea? Well, stop thinking and just go listen to some of their stuff. One has to to download several of their songs to truly understand what they are all about; as well as what they are capable of doing with their instruments. Anyway, you should just trust me and go out and get this album right now. If you don't, you're really missing out.
