Meg Pryor is having the worst birthday ever. Just before her sweet sixteen luau party, she decides to pay Sam a visit at her father's store in North Philly and winds up being caught in the middle of a race riot. Her father is so upset about what might have happened to her that he grounds Meg for going downtown without permission. With nothing to do but watch her best friend, Roxanne, dance on American Bandstand, Meg convinces her mother to let her go to the Vinyl Crocodile to see her boyfriend, Luke Foley.
Luke has just a remedy to make her birthday the best one yet: three tickets to see the Beatles live in Atlantic City! With a few white lies and a little help from her friends, Meg, Luke, and Roxanne hit the road. Unfortunately there may be more obstacles along the way than any of them had bargained for...
