Book Description

November 2, 2006
WILL CHRISTIANS EXPERIENCE GREAT TRIBULATION? Most evangelical Christians believe in a Pre-Tribulation Rapture, and they believe it is right around the corner. They believe that Armageddon is knocking at the door. The crisis and battles for territorial rights in the Middle East, the outbreak of Holy Wars and terrorism throughout the world, have most evangelicals convinced the end is near! But, they aren't worried because their hopes lie in The Rapture; a unique event they believe will have Jesus Christ returning to earth to secretly snatch them up to heaven while all hell breaks loose on earth! What will happen to their faith if they are proven wrong? The End Times Passover not only biblically proves there will be no Pre-Tribulation Rapture, it proves that The Bride of the Lamb is not the Church, that there will not be a 1000 year millennial reign of Christ, that the human soul does not go to heaven or hell immediately after death, that the Promised Land is not in the Middle East, that God's children of promise are not solely ethnic Jews, that the church of God began thousands of years before the Day of Pentecost, and that God's true disciples will experience great tribulation. This may not sound like Good News; but it's absolutely true! Whether you are a Christian or not, are you prepared to read this book and finally learn the truth? We dare you! We also dare your pastor, your Bible studies teacher and folks like Hal Lindsey, Tim LaHaye, Dr. Tommy Ice, Jerry Jenkins, Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and thousands of other teachers and believers of the Pre-Tribulation Rapture to read this book! We dare these few good men to read and study this book, and tell us if they think they can really handle the truth!

5.0 out of 5 stars In-depth Study refuting the Pre-tribulation rapture theory, May 22, 2007
This review is from: The End Times Passover: (Etymological Challenges to Millenarian Doctrines) (Paperback)
Mr. Ortiz was saved in 1975, and was "indoctrinated" with the Pre-tribulation Rapture doctrine; but after a few years of study he realized that the Pre-trib position was only sustained by inaccurately translating certain Greek words. So, with a background as a teacher, school administrator, and broadcast journalist, he spent over 20 years researching and writing in order to unlock the mysteries of eschatology; resulting in what would become this book, and the second volume. He believes the various eschatological positions today do not fully reveal God's true redemption plan for mankind.

This is not just another book on bible prophecy, it presents unique insights and exegesis, some of which is found in no other book. The author studied all the end time views, he studied Hebrew and Greek word definitions, and many different commentaries in order to better understand what God intended to say in his Word. He goes into great detail explaining the word meanings and how this view or that one errors in this or that point, in this or that verse.

Because of the length of this book, actually two volumes, everyone that reads it will find things they disagree with, but they will also find much to enrich their understanding of specific passages and their overall knowledge of Bible prophecy.

This book is not a casual read for the beginner, but is more like a commentary and reference work that deals mainly with the Rapture, the Millennium, the Great Tribulation, and who the Church and the Bride are.

As a result of his research, he does not completely agree with any of the existing camps. He believes we will go through the tribulation, and that the Bride of Christ is not Christians but the actual city of New Jerusalem (not the people in it)! He is very, very wordy, probably because he wants to provide lots of evidence to backup his views.

But he does not cover the details of the seals and trumpets, as I do in my book Apocalypse Fire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old-School Biblical Scholars, Beware..., May 3, 2008
By
This review is from: The End Times Passover: (Etymological Challenges to Millenarian Doctrines) (Paperback)
The End Times Passover is the result of over 20 years of painstaking research and analysis, presented by author & scholar Joe Ortiz in a masterfully seamless way. Not the typical mash up of "fire-and-brimstone" doomsday prophecy, Ortiz's tome is an informative, enlightening dissertation on the contemporary applications of ancient scripture. Compiled from the study of - amongst many other resources - various biblical translations, The End Times Passover is quite the heavy read; certainly not recommended for naïve graduates of "cookie-cutter" Sunday School theology.

Fans of the Left Behind series (fictionalized narrative accounts of the events in the biblical book of Revelation) will find Ortiz rather detailed in many areas that Jenkins & LaHaye treat with relative ambiguity. His comprehensive descriptions of the true intentions of the architects of the bible are eye-opening, and his fearless accostal of the tenets of traditional dogma are both inspiring and refreshing. Ortiz even delves deeply into the often overlooked area of misinterpreted scripture, revealing the lasting, damaging effects that the basic "clerical errors" have left on the mindsets of millions of believers in the faith community over the years.

Most impressive about The End Times Passover is its reliance on sound factual support from numerous historical, archeological, and concordance sources. As previously mentioned, Ortiz invested over 20 years researching, analyzing, and compiling the foundation of his points, and his arguments present a formidable challenge to even the most seasoned, skeptical theological scholar.

The ending/beginning of new millennia are typical settings for the emergence of "End Times" hysteria and hype, and it's often difficult to distinguish between the serious and the surreal; thankfully, The End Times Passover is a clear representation of the former, which offers those disillusioned with the latter a sound alternative, as well as a perfect opportunity to embrace the realistic prospects of an unknown world & time soon to come.
