Endangered,
This review is from: Endangered (Mass Market Paperback)
Cyn Malva has risen to the ranks of homicide detective in the city's Tactical Unit. Her special magic skills have helped her move up the ranks. Usually frustrated by the men who are intimidated by her skills, she finds solace in the arms of Rio.
Rio Rafael, a special ops sniper, has enjoyed his no-strings affair with Cyn for quite a while now. But when their situation changes, he is ready to make a commitment to Cyn. When a crazed serial killer case starts to hit close to home, Cyn matches the killer's targeted victims and becomes the object of the killer's obsession. Now Rio is in the way and must be eliminated. Can Cyn and Rio escape the psycho killer and finally get a chance to commit? Endangered is a magical adventure... Endangered is not your typical cop book. Even though this is book three in the series, you don't need to read them to be able to follow along. The magical elements in this book were really a welcome touch to some typical `cop' books. I liked how Cyn was strong and confident and really enjoyed her no-strings romance with Rio. But when she realizes that she could lose him at any moment, she re-evaluates her feelings. Rio is a great alpha male and you know he really loves Cyn, and is unwilling to let her run away from her feelings. Add in the crazy psycho and this is a great action adventure with some magic thrown in. Endangered will keep your interest from page one, and if you like hot and sexy romances, this is the book for you. Vivian Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

Magic and Erotic Romance (B- Grade),

This review is from: Endangered (Mass Market Paperback)
Detective Sergeant Cynarra Malva is one of the best homicide mage detectives; she uses magic to keep law and order, especially when it comes to the criminal mage gangs that are causing destruction in her city. Cyn is in charge of a tactical unit that uses spells against the latest criminals who don't seem to let up. She loves living on the edge and enjoys her work. She also enjoys her no strings attached affair with Rio Rafael, a special ops sniper who has retired and now wants more with Cyn that just sex. Unfortunately, Cyn is not ready to have a long-term relationship with Rio. It also doesn't help matters that Rio isn't a mage and she is. Mages are meant to be with other mages and Rio is considered to be an outcast, or so Cyn's brothers tell him with glee.
Rio has turned his back on his own dangerous line of work because he wants Cyn forever, and that means a future as his wife. He is wary of telling Cyn his plans because he is afraid she will cut and run. For the time being he will keep seducing her and giving her incredible sex so that she won't want to be without him. It kills him that Cyn is constantly in danger and there is nothing he can do to keep her safe. When a serial killer has turned the city into his playground and targets Cyn, Rio has no choice but to take control of the situation. No one, not some deranged killer or even Cyn's family will keep Cyn from him. Cyn is his and he is never giving her up. Endangered is the third book in Kathleen Dante's En series that deals with magical crimes and the lives of those who try to stop the criminals who have no regard for the law. Many readers will adore Cyn who is strong, quick on her feet and a woman who doesn't need a man to lean on to make it through the day. That becomes a big issue for Cyn's lover, Rio, who is no longer happy with the relationship they have. Cyn keeps Rio at a distance emotionally because they are so different. The reason is because of the magical element in this story. These two characters know how to fight and can handle the worst of situations but because Rio isn't a mage like Cyn, they are not expected to be together forever and are only meant to have a sexually gratifying fling. Fans of suspense and police action will surely enjoy Endangered. I found myself a bit confused, especially with the whole aspect of the mages and the magic used as a weapon for both the police and criminals. I felt this paranormal plot device could have been left out. There was enough drama and tension as it was and this really wasn't needed because the story was already interesting as it was. Cyn's brothers add some lighthearted moments and are very protective of her, and more so when it comes to Rio. I really felt sorry for Rio because the guy couldn't seem to catch a break, everyone seemed to be against him when it comes to Cyn. Cyn also has a great group of people in her unit who she trusts with her life. Endangered was an okay read with some great love scenes, nice action and suspense that will have you rooting for the good guys. Katiebabs

strong erotic romantic police procedural fantasy,
This review is from: Endangered (Mass Market Paperback)
Detective Sergeant Cynarra "Cyn" Malva knows she has found her mate in special-ops sniper Rio Rafael, but likes the relationship as is because she does not have to deal with issues if she pushes for more besides she doubts he would want to with her. Commitment means estrangement with family, friends, and work peers as she is a mage and he is not; meaning he is less than her.
However, she kicks the can re whether to increase her obligation with Rio as she hides behind difficult police matters. Not only has a dangerous gang of mages caused havoc, a serial killer is on the loose with Cyn on the list of victims. With Rio having her back, Cyn tries to take down the killer before the predator takes her down. Fans of erotic romantic police procedural fantasies will enjoy this engaging thriller (ENTICED and ENTANGLED). Although the identity of the serial killer is ironically known by readers long before the cops do, the use of magic to find clues and heal will remind readers of M.R. Sellars' Rowan Gant paranormal mysteries (just hotter except for his hellish scenes). Cyn and Rio are a wonderful pairing as he risks his life to save hers, but is still unacceptable to her family. Fans will appreciate Kathleen Dante's star-crossed lovers in her latest nth degree paranormal suspense thriller. Harriet Klausner
