5.0 out of 5 stars CONTAGIOUS, October 24, 1999

Being a Skynyrd fan since they were born, I grabbed up this CD years ago and have turned dozens of fans onto it. It never got any publicity as one of those "cute" unplugged albums, but it is one of the best ones I've heard. Acoustics and production on this CD are fantastic, you can listen low or crank it up and sing along. I've got a lot of Skynyrd in my collection, don't like it all, but this is the one that I call on the most to get off on this band. P.S. Your wife will even like these versions !!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Best "unplugged" CD I've ever heard,plus new songs,too, April 10, 2007
This review is from: Endangered Species (Audio CD)
This an excellent release from the post Ronnie Van Zant band. Every version of old tunes are done very well. It's cool stuff! The new songs are all good songs, not to be ignored.
I saw Skynyrd in Dallas come out on stage and basically do this whole album, sitting in chairs, with acoustic instruments. It was stunning...
They walked off stage, saying "give us a bit,we'll be back". They then came back and played a very long amplified set, including "Coming Home","Curtis Leow", and "Down South Jukin'", again. It was nearly 3 hours of musical bliss!
By accident, I saw this Endagered Species CD in a music store the next day,and knew I had to have it.
I still have it, and YOU need to get yourself one too.
Buy it!

"Endangered species" is incredibly good. The acoustic versions of the songs are almost better than the studio ones. "sweet home Alabama" will not desappoint you and some other songs sound will blow you away!!! I speak about "Devil in a bottle" with its awesome slide guitar solo, "Good Luck, Bad Luck"(that rocks!!!), and my favorite on the album : "the Last Rebel"...
A MUST HAVE if you like acoustic-rock !!!

This album is a joy to listen to, I have worn it out..the sound quality is crystal-clear, as if you were sitting right in the room with the players. "Devil in the Bottle" is a gem! I would get this one...

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent acoustic set by the Skynyrd survivors, June 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Endangered Species (Audio CD)
This album gives a reprise acoustic treatment to some classic material. The sound is southern/down home, the vocals (Johnny Van-Zant) are good, the band is very tight, and overall this is a very enjoyable album. If I had to use a label, I would describe this album as acoustic southern rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real southern stuff right here!, May 18, 1998

The opening bars of "Sweet Home Alabama" is the only thing that'll peel your fingers off your gun and your Dixie45 to reach over to the stereo and TURN IT UP! Some of Skynyrd's very best, and the way rock's going lately, it almost proves they were an Endangered Species. Yeee-HA!
