5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent music!, June 2, 2007
This cd is astonishing! Its well rounded, welding in a vast variety of sounds from around the world, and I got to say that there isn't one track that I dislike on this cd. Each and every track is a hit! The hip hop tracks on this cd, I believe, really should represent hip hop today, instead of all the garbage and degrading words in its mainstream. The bottom line is, if you want to chill out some evening or even during the day, this would be the cd to do it too!

4.0 out of 5 stars Gateway to a Broader World of Groovy Music, April 13, 2007

I bought Endangered Species after hearing Cleopatra in New York off of Putumayo's Sahara Lounge CD. I was looking for something funky, "hip-hopish" and worldly. In my opinion, Cleopatra in New York Best represents what I was looking for on this CD. The music on this CD lives up to the description on its cover - i.e. the music is as varied as the people of New York City. The music is up temple and there are four or five other tracks that get bobbing my head and grooven in my car.

I was hoping for sophisticatedly produced tracks in the vein of the aforementioned Cleopatra, which successfully incorporates the Middle Eastern influenced stings, and vocal styling of Carol C with a distinctly funky, hip-hop beat. Most of the tracks do this quite well but a few of them are missing that "funky" element I was looking for.

Bottom Line: it's a good album and I highly recommend to those who, like me, are extremely tired of the stuff being played on Pop and R&B stations. If this is you, let this CD be a gateway to a broader world of groovy music.

5.0 out of 5 stars wow.., February 6, 2007

really delicious, lots of variety, groovy dance music. cleopatra in NY has a texture like melt in your mouth taffy and a fragrance like honeysuckle. mi swing is more latin and has a luscious tropical feeling. simmered to perfection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Endangered Species thats right., May 1, 2009
Now days if some what difficult to find good beats the radio is wash with nonsense, and to our rescue comes Nickodemus giving us a good dose of Rythms, in this album My Swing es Tropical is inclured along with other favorites like Funky in the Middle just like the name say very funky, the trumpets the breaks and the bongos are excellent along with the organ and the effecs, Crazy Stranger it has some special beat to it it sounds like if Indian Flutes, Balkan Horns and New York beats got together Nickodemus you did it, Cleopatra in New York i like this original piece is to relax and enjoy, Bailamos en el Junque somewhat similar to y Swing es Tropical but with a female voice right at the star you will notice the Latin on it [Cinco Estrellas], Back From Africa is cool, the Electric guitar gives it a nice touch when the percussion is playing, and then the harmonic voices it feels like you are in a live concert in MOTHER LAND.

I enjoyed the music, but would have liked a few more songs with the 'tropical' theme, as the title song states. All in all a very nice CD

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and funky., June 26, 2007
I bought this because of Mi Swing Es Tropical on the iPod commercials. The rest of the CD is just as much fun. I've never spent a lot of time in New York, but I imagine this is what Caribbean-New York must sound like. If you're thinking about buying it, buy it. It is exactly what you hope it will be.
