Book Description

February 22, 2006
Air burrowed insidiously into lungs that had collapsed subjective centuries ago, only to rush back out through tightened vocal chords in a scream of agony. Blood sluggishly drooled through heart chambers made fragile by time’s merciless abrasion. Involuntarily, muscle groups twitched about as the soul returned to the body, flailing appendages hither and thither, testing their renewed animation. To complete the Waking, into his brain rushed memories of having no memories.

Existence is not supposed to be optional in this flat polytheistic world—it is the dictate of Etre, one of the world’s three founding gods. But Sanct, a man lacking memories, skills, and purpose, possesses (or is possessed by) an object that seemingly ignores the gods’ rules with impunity. To make matters even more confusing, Sanct is purportedly one of the gods’ servants.

But when the deities are forced to play by their own convoluted rules, even they can make mistakes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Fantasy, November 14, 2006

This review is from: Ending an Ending: First Book of the Laurian Pentology (Paperback)
I absolutely loved this book. It has the potential to leave the reader without sleep, children without food, and pets being neglected because of its ability to hook the reader. Danny Birt brings to life an epic story that not only questions existence, but also the rules that guide it. In this fictional story we follow Sanct and his powerful non-existent staff across a world full of magic, adventure, and intrigue. Danny's humor and imagination shows through in this epic story which leaves the reader begging for the next book in the Laurian Pentology.

5.0 out of 5 stars A particularly well-authored and vividly detailed novel that will leave the reader looking forward to the next installment, May 8, 2006
This review is from: Ending an Ending: First Book of the Laurian Pentology (Paperback)
Ending An Ending: First Book Of The Laurian Pentology by Danny Birt is the introduction to a world of polytheistic beliefs in which the hero Sanct defies the law of the Gods', without memory, skill, or perception of self-purpose. Introducing an expansive world of great detail and intricacies, Ending An Ending creatively presents Sanct's possession of a staff which has the potential to guide the world back to its rightful path from a potential disintegration. Original and entertaining Ending An Ending is very highly recommended for science-fiction fans as a particularly well-authored and vividly detailed novel that will leave the reader looking forward to the next installment of the Laurian Pentology.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it., June 15, 2006

I found this at the Kentucky Ren Faire. I looked at the back and bought it because it seemed interesting. After about the first 2 chapters I was hooked (Took me 2 days to read). Out of all the books I have read (most of them have been series) I liked this one the best. It has plenty of twists and turns and always seems to leave you thinking about things. I highly recommend this book if you like reading fantasy.
