5.0 out of 5 stars Some wise choices, some not., September 17, 2003

The packaging would make you believe this was based on the short-lived 2001 revival. Fortunately, what's inside is based on the '80s-'90s versions of the show. While Endless could have put a bit more into the production, this is a satisfying first attempt at bringing this game home.

It's fairly straightforward. Guess the correct numbers based on polls of 100 people, determine if the next card in your hand is higher and lower. Then go on to play for fabulous (if imaginary) cash and prizes. All in all a fun game.

Now, since the latest version tanked on TV, maybe they'll put out a second edition using the classic graphics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Card Sharks Rules., September 19, 2002

Let's get something straight. This game features the logos from the infamous 2001 version of the classic TV game show "Card Sharks," but it is NOT that lame format. Instead, Endless Games has wisely adapted the original format that game show lovers the nation over remember.

What [stinks]: the game board lies flat, and the card backs are generic (actually as much a blessing as a curse; you can use your own cards if you want without worrying about whether they are official or not).

What's cool: everything else. For a flat game board, it's very stylish and colorful. The question book features "Hi-Lo Questions," in the same 100 person survey format used on the show. AND most importantly, the game uses the rules best known to every game show fan.

Don't be misled...this is no pretender. This is the real magilla. A very good game from Endless, even with the company's notorious practice of cost cutting.

Now if only we could get them to do a deluxe version...

2.0 out of 5 stars A major disappointment...should have been better., September 14, 2002

First, I must give Endless Games credit for trying to bring attention to many terrific game shows of the past by creating home versions of them...and some of them are rather pricey. Sadly, the consumer gets very little for the money.

Card Sharks is a perfect example. It's based on the classic game show of the late 1970s and mid 1980s...yet barely resembles it. They used as a basis for design the set from the failed 2001 revival...which itself bore no resemblance to the original. This makes no sense.

Don't be surprised if what's in the box doesn't match what's on the cover. I expected playing cards with the logo, bot got cheesy red and blue regular playing cards. I expected a stand-up board, like on the show...you get a piece of cardboard that you have to flip. Not a whole lot for [this price]. As a life-long Card Sharks fan, I was very disappointed when I opened this box.

I wonder if those who designed this home version ever watched the original show...doesn't seem like it.

Save you money, and do what my daughter and I did...go to the store, make your own set and buy cards for a buck or two. You'll save money and have more fun than you would have with this turkey.
