5.0 out of 5 stars Get this game!, December 4, 2001

This game must have just been released because I had never heard of it when I played it recently at a friend's party. Before finishing the game for the night, every guest at the party wanted his own copy! It's instantly addictive! The categories are broad enough that no matter what the topic - movies, music, tv, literature, sports, miscellaneous - everyone will be able to get involved. The game was perfect for someone with an attention span shorter than most commercials; there is no waiting your turn! Everyone can play at the same time.

I've never been great at Trivial Pursuit. I couldn't tell you the difference between Ohio and Iowa and I can't name more than a few Supreme Court justices, but I could name every actor who ever played James Bond, the Simpsons' home address, and all of Judy Blume's books, so this game was perfect for me and my friends.

A perfect gift for the pop culture freak in your life!

5.0 out of 5 stars You just never know what fun can have until you try., October 22, 2001

Remember who starred in a certain movie, can you identify a song from the lyrics? Think you know a lot about what's current and in style than you may very well be ready for the game called Pop Smarts.

The only real assembly in this game was the spinner and that took all about two minutes. After that reading the direction took another ten minutes, so in all I was playing in less than 15 minutes total. The directions are simple enough and this game seems appropriate for just about any age group.

The game provides hours of fun and a good competitive atmosphere for everyone involved. Making a great gift for any occasion or a great time for those get together with family or friends. Storage is easy and the overall a good value for the money - well done Endless Games.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd rather be playing Pop Smarts than writing this!, August 3, 2001

I own dozens of games (over 100!), so when a friend gave me Pop Smarts as a gift, I was somewhat skeptical. But after we played it once, we were hooked. The hardest thing to find is a game that isn't just a rehash of a different game, but I'm happy to say that Pop Smarts is a complete original!

Here's what I love about this game: no down-time. Everybody plays at once, so there's no waiting around. Gameplay is fast and a lot of fun. It's as good as Outburst and -much- better than Cranium.

This one we'll play again and again. Great game!

5.0 out of 5 stars My New Favorite Game!!!, September 12, 2002
This review is from: Pop Smarts Game (Toy)
You know this stuff, you just have to reach way into your gray matter to pull it out. Do you know what celebrity couple named their daughter Scout after a character from "To Kill a Mockingbird"? Can you incorrectly spell the word "potato" just like Dan Quayle did? Your categories are Movies, TV, Music, Books and Pop Pourri. Shouting out like a bad first grader, you want to be the first to answer a question in one of each of the categories. Comes with randomizer (like a spinner, but more fun), 30 plastic pegs, 200 cards, one wipe-off scorecard, a crayon and a really funny instruction booklet. The TV-shaped gamebox is also quite amusing. (And the answers are? Demi Moore & Bruce Willis and "potatoe.") For 2 or more players.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Time Was Had by All, October 9, 2001

= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pop Smarts Game (Toy)
It was a dark and stormy night when the four of us sat down to play Pop Smarts. The youngest one (10) had a great time because, for once, he was in charge. He got to ask the questions and run the game. The oldest one (60) loved it because he seldom gets to sit around and enjoy his kids enjoying each other. The baby boomer (49) played the game in a nostalgic mist, remembering her misspent youth and rejoicing in the fact that her memory wasn't completely gone. The Gen X-er (36) spent the time trying to figure out how he could invent and market something that would be as much fun as this game.

In these uncertain and frightening times, it's a pleasure to have a game that evokes a more innocent era. No violence, nothing scary, just good memories and fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Game for all seasons, October 4, 2001

It was a dark and stormy night when four of us of different ages, backgrounds and personalities sat down to play Pop Smarts. The little one (age 10) loved it because he was in charge. The oldest one (age 60) loved it because he was enjoying the family moment. The baby boomer(49) had a blast because the questions evoked misty nostalgia for her youth and the Generation x-er (36) started wondering how he could invent and market something that would be this much fun.

We played for three hours, without a break, and laughed and argued and discussed and generally had a great time, which is what games are all about.

In these times of uncertainty, with the constant stream of horrible news on television, cyberspace and radio, this game was an island of innocence and fun. It's hip and well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another fun game from Endless., October 10, 2001

Since Endless Games specializes in turning game shows into home versions, it's nice to see an original. It certainly could be a game show, though. Pop Smarts is a fast-paced, fun game that can be played by a couple or a group. The questions are reminicent of MTV's old "Remote Control" without the glib nature or "Brady Physics." You have to have a working knowledge of pop culture to even attempt this game, but if you do it's a great time. While the cellophane panel on the box is clever, it may not hold up as well over time.

My home is the usual host to many of my family/friend functions and my wife and I had an opportunity to introduce the game at our recent pool party. What at a hoot! The game is a blast! Our friends totally enjoyed the game due to their familiarity with the subjects covered. Give it a chance, you will be very satisfied.

This game is soooo fun! It's a fast paced trivia game that is great because not only does it come with a great mix of hard & easy, the cards are set up to make you really think before you speak (as the answer styles are always changing). The variety of topics appealed to all. A great time had by everybody. Pick this one up!
