Book Description

Paranormal/Supernatural

The Riley’s are the perfect example of the American family: a loving husband and wife and two small children. They head off to the beach for a vacation without a care in the world and the determination to make their time a special event. But for this family, everything is about to change when they visit a beach famous for ghostly activity.

Joan’s interest in the paranormal has been aroused by a book she is reading and as time progresses, she and her husband not only see the ghost of the woman who died over a 150 years ago, but seem to be seeing spirits everywhere. Are they in a ethereal hot spot, or is something else going on? What do these spirits want?

The longer Riley family stays, the deeper they are drawn into spirit world. As their health begins to fail, they make plans to leave, but something has them in their grasp; Time and events appear to be standing still. Can the Riley’s break free of the beach’s hold?

Endless Summer is a ghost story with a difference. It is a mystery story with a supernatural twist that will keep you wondering until the last page is turned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read from this author! June 7, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had read Tear in Time by this author and loved it so much that I decided to try Endless Summer as well. I'm so glad I did. I don't think this writer is capable of disappointing. This was another darned good read.

It was funny, touching, surprising, heartfelt...and the writing style is so smooth and easy. Just a pleasure all around. I'm a dyed in the wool fan now. After I finish this review, I'm going to go see what else he has out. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Petersen is a Master Storyteller! June 9, 2012
By Beth H.
Format:Kindle Edition
In ENDLESS SUMMER, author Christopher Petersen attempts to address the question, "Where do we go after we die?" In this paranormal family drama, Christopher Petersen gives us much to think about: "Are there spirits in another world? What happens when we die? Can we communicate with spirits?" These thoughts are expressed through the excellent dialogue between his main characters.
Will and Joan are on a New England beach vacation with their children. Joan has a great interest in ghosts, and lo and behold, suddenly paranormal phenomena begin to occur on the beach on a daily basis. This puzzles the family as they meet up with several mystifying ghostly presences.
Petersen has a uniquely humorous writing style that lightens up an otherwise "deathly" serious topic. The interactions between the family members are genuine and sincere. An interesting use of repetition throughout ENDLESS SUMMER is to great effect, although this book made me feel somewhat uncomfortable at times (mild creepy feeling from the subject matter, of course--it is a "ghost story" after all!). The reader understands what the author is leading up to, but the suspense lies in how this masterful storyteller will bring us there, leading me to continue to turn page after page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Paranormal Family Summer Read August 6, 2013
By Arlene
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What a great summer read. This family story grips you right at the beginning and doesn't let go until the last page.
It is an easy rolling read that is perfect for any generation about a loving family on Summer vacation. I don't want to give anything away, but this will cover the full gamut of your emotions by the end of this story.

I felt anger, compassion, humour, sadness, curiosity, love, and contentment as the story draws to a close, or, does the story ever really end?
It is very thought provoking and for me I felt a very personal connection to this family and their fears and loves.

Even though I knew the ending to the story before I got to it, I cried over the resolution and realizations. As I write this review it brings a personal tear to my eye, and I find it difficult to express some of my emotions.

It is well written and contains few typos which makes for a seamless comfortable read. You won't be disappointed with the story and it is sure to leave you with possibly still questions, yet a feeling of serenity for the meaning of life.
I hope you will make this one of your 'Summer Reads' you won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars A ghost story with a difference September 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
The author has produced an interesting book, that although primarily a ghost story, also straddles time as well.

Joan and Will are taking their children away on holiday at a beach resort. Joan takes a book with her on ghost sightings. As the holiday develops, Joan and her sceptical husband become increasingly interested in the ghost of a local woman who died in tragic circumstances some 150 years before. What does this ghost want and why are there so many others on the beach?

This book fascinated me. I have to confess that I read it because I so enjoyed the author's other book, A Tear in Time. Although the subject matter is somewhat different in this book, Chistopher David Pettersen's skill in bringing characters to life makes it a charm.

If you are looking for a feel good story, that is also a ghost story, with good characters, then you'll enjoy this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A supernatural summer May 16, 2013
By Sherrie
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a charming, haunting story about a family holiday with a difference.

I was attracted to it because of the reference to the paranormal and also the setting. I thought half way through that the story was a little repetitive but as I read on I could see the significance of it and why it was necessary to the plot. Past and present, earthly and supernatural were cleverly interwoven throughout.

It was drawn to a very satisfactory and poignant conclusion with all questions answered, all loose ends neatly threaded in by the author.

I really enjoyed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Ghost story with a meaning March 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Endless Summer is a ghost story unlike any other. The characters and ghosts in this story lead you to examine the deeper meaning of life. The author does a great job of painting the scenes and developing the characters. The weight of the inevitable doesn't make it predictable--it only makes you feel for the characters and moves you to want to reach out and help them in their quest.
As a thought provoking novel, Endless Summer will stimulate you to examine, once again, why we are here and what happens next. Excellent job.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable! September 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Endless Summer

Although, for me, this book was fairly predictable, it was an enjoyable read. I gave it 4 stars only because, as I said, it was predictable. I knew where the story line was going within the first couple of chapters. The characters were sympathetic and the plot of the story interesting. I will definitely be reading more books by Mr. Petersen!

More About the Author

Christopher David Petersen (1963 - 20??). Born and raised in Connecticut. As a child, I was always daring and reckless. Never one to let common sense stand in the way of a great adventure, my bold feats of stupidity were legendary... Huckleberry Finn would have been proud.

"Surprisingly", that same spirit carried over into adulthood, as I sought out entertainment that included: scuba diving; ski Mountaineering; mountain biking; Rock, Ice and Mountain climbing; flying planes; golf, motorcycles, the stock market and of course, experimentation with various alcoholic refreshments.

Later in life, writing became an extension of my deep desire to experience "new and exciting worlds". I have written several books, but none have been published through any formal channels... I've heard the process is long, painful and laborious, the thought of which sickens me. My foray into e-publishing came after a friend suggested my works could fetch dollars instead of dust inside my sock drawer... a righteous observation. My recent publications are the result of this advice. Further adventure/suspense novels are soon to be released.

An engineer by trade, I have worked all over the U.S. and usually write in my spare time... that is when I'm not enjoying a bottle of Scotch and a quality cigar. I am a naturally long-winded individual, so writing is what happens when I can't get anyone to listen to me anymore...

I love all kinds of genres but gravitate more towards suspense. There is nothing like the build up to a great climax... What a rush!
