If you have any interest in the history of bulldozers or mechanized logging this is for you. Chock full of pictures of everything from horse drawn logging wheels to tracked steam tractors to relativly modern [1950's to 1960's] bulldozers.
History and fate of many dozer manufacturers, some you will never have heard of. Some interesting information regarding the environmental damage caused by logging and it's remediation.

I have owned this book for a long time and have re-read it a multitude of times. I am involved in the collecting of antique Caterpillars and have interests of earth moving and heavy equipment. This book provides an in-depth history of logging that will give any reader not involved in the industry a solid knowledge of the innovations and adaptations to the logging business. Some of the observations and identifications are in error, but the mistakes are minor and do not diminish the value of the lessons. The book has a plethora of photos that bolster the text. From horse drawn logging, through the introduction of steam power, both stationary and wheeled up through the gas and diesel powered track laying machines, this book covers the motive power as well as attachments to augment efficient retrieval of timber. I would highly recommend this book to any aficionado of heavy industry. Well worth the purchase.
