5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Stellar
What an amazing but unknown album. Realm was one of those incredible late 80's/early 90's technical (or prog if you prefer) thrash bands. The technicality of Coroner, but with the melody of Toxik and some incredible vocals.

Basically, this is one of the best melodic or technical thrash albums around. You're hit with the speed from the very beginning...

2.0 out of 5 stars Stay Away...
REALM is a band that never got anywhere (in my opinion) because of their vocalist... Wailing never sounds good! These guys sound great on their instruments and the time-changes are amazing. But Mark Antoni's voice simply ruins all efforts... REALM sounds like early FATES WARNING (garbage), TOXIK (also garbage) and KING DIAMOND (sometimes garbage). Wailing means YOU...

You're hit with the speed from the very beginning. Luckily, this album has the variety you need to stay interested. Eleanor Rigby is one of the very best covers in metal. The song is recognizable as a cover and keeps a lot of the feel of the original, but it morphs into a speeding thrash monster. Every chorus on the album will stick in your mind for days at a time.

This is one of those albums that's virtually undiscovered, even by thrash-heads. I really can't say much more. If you like Coroner, Mekong Delta, Watchtower, Atheist, Toxik, Annihilator, or any of the other prog/tech thrash bands, you'll love this album. Look them up on myspace if you need to hear more of the music before buying, but in all seriousness, you'll love them if you like any of the ones I mentioned above. If you don't, send me the album. I'll gladly take it!

@the last reviewer before me: you can't argue about taste, but you are full of it. Early Fates Warning is garbage? Toxik is garbage? You gotta be kidding me! If you only like talk-singing thrash singers, why review this album at all? Save yourself the trouble and me the frustration. Realm RULES, we can only hope their unreleased album sees the light one day.

Wailing means YOU CAN'T SING, short and sweet...
Both of REALM's albums have the terrible, high-pitched wailing on all songs, ruining the guitar and drumwork of the other four members. If you like 'Progressive-metal, then give these guys a try. If you like real thrash, stay away...
