From the Author

Anyone who has ever had a bright idea has dreamed of making money. Some follow the dream to make that happen, and, for a few, it does. But once in a while there is a discovery that cannot be ignored, something so valuable that its success is all but assured. Of course, that doesn't mean it's easy. Those who have tried know starting a business is a challenge even in the best of circumstances. But with a discovery of such high value, the real challenge can be just holding on to it.
Endo is the story of such a discovery and of the quest to start a new enterprise. It is a test of our own dreams, letting us feel both the excitement of great potential and the fear of having it ripped away. For some this is an entertaining story. For those of us who have had the dream, Endo is a vicarious experience.

Discovery is the start of an adventure. Endo shows where that adventure may lead.

More About the Author

Business and technology have their dark sides, conspiring to hide great risks inside seductive opportunities. Foretelling these risks gives rise to intriguing tales of mystery and suspense. These are stories that throw innocent characters into unfamiliar and dangerous circumstances. They are about the excitement of success and the fear of having it ripped away, about daring to dream and then fighting to survive.

I've found few things as gratifying as a good story well told. To the extent we allow it, we are swept into the plot. We share the thoughts, the hopes and fears as suspense builds and mystery unravels. We ask what we might do in similar situations, testing our own resourcefulness and character. To that extent, we are part of the story. To that same extent, the story is about us.

Great fun! Learned a lot about business start-up, plus it's a page-turner. Short read that's well worth the price.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and appreciated how well it was written. The plot kept your attention and the author balanced realistic and dramatic aspects very well.

I liked the plot especially since I am interested in engineering and technology myself. But this book explores fanciful ideas that we all dream about, without being too technical. It's like the book discusses when the technology from, for example, Star Trek was first being invented. Wouldn't that be cool? What would that be like? How would it be discovered? What would it even be? Etc. This is a very good idea for what to write a book on, since it's something unexplored that we all would like to experience.

The book was also written without being too dreamy. This is an aspect that some big-selling books lack. It mixes the realistic and drama/suspenseful parts of a story very well, presenting the "boring" and "structural" parts of a story in an interesting way. Endo makes the daily work of an engineer exciting; it feeds off why we engineers enjoy our jobs.

This book is definitely worth the read and I would suggest it to my engineer and non-engineer friends.

The endo premise is one that is extremely relevant to the world we live in and the story is put together very well to boot. While it may not be the deepest or most descriptive book you ever read I definitely still came away feeling I learned a thing or two about the business world and I thoroughly enjoyed the process. Easy entertaining read!
Cheers!

Endo is an intriguing and original thriller. Set on a university campus, it explores what would happen if a grad student made a world-changing discovery. As an engineer, Hopmann gives realistic and convincing details about a technological breakthrough, and his suspenseful plot keeps you guessing until the end.

A great techno thriller. Reading this I kept thinking if only this technology really existed. Lots of what ifs in this book to really get the mind and the imagination involved. I hope the author writes many more books of this type. I can't wait to read them!

I thought this was a generally good book. The plot was was intriguing and engaging. The pacing was pretty good.

Where I struggled, though, was with the writing style. Maybe it's just me, and it's a little hard to describe, but the writing style struck me as simplistic and, I'd say, like a lab notebook:

-- I thought of this idea.
-- I realized I needed some help and built a team.
-- We came across some challenges.
-- We worked really well together and resolved the challenges easily.

The main character was an engineering student, so maybe that fits.

Since it was free, I don't regret the purchase. But it could have been so much more engaging with a better writing style.

I obtained this book as a free offering for the Kindle. I think the general description of the book provided by Amazon is good, so I will not try to outdo it and in so doing provide spoilers. Generally I think the author provided an interesting read that kept my attention until the end. It is a good combination discovery, suspense and romance. Character development was good and I found myself developing empathy for the main characters. The author also shows a real understanding of science, engineering and product development and was able to write his ideas into the story so that a layman such as myself could understand. I would recommend this book for fast, light and entertaining reading.
