This is a cool album. The first from the lads from Calgary, I believe. There are a few different styles on this album, though most are surf-type. Check out the tone of Brent's guitar! It almost sounds like it's part horn at times. Very cool! If you like this one, you should try to get Dig In, their second album (which has "Rockin' in the Henhouse" on it, one...

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! Rock-surf-music excellence, October 31, 2006
This review is from: Endsville (Audio CD)
How to describe Huevos Rancheros? Hard to say, because whether your tastes are surf guitar, hard rock, instrumental music, whatever, it's all here and you'll mainline this album.

For the connoisseur, the influences are all here: Link Wray (the 50s godfather of hard rock), Davie Allen, etc. But even if your life to date has consisted of Led Zep, The Who, The Stones, this is beefy ROCK AND ROLL.

The closest comparisons are the great surf bands 'The Volcanoes' and 'Satan's Pilgrims.' But like a WWF wrestling superstar, Huevos Rancheros eviscerates the occasional wimp factor out of surf, with lumberjack-sized biceps and volatile, highly flamable blasts of guitar-fueled rock and roll.

Whether you're getting ready to ride some 70-foot tsunamis, leap over a dozen tractor-trailers on your Harley, pound a gallon of whiskey in one swig, or just head to your local bar to deftly seduce a another pair of NFL cheerleaders, this music's for you.
