5.0 out of 5 stars Worked great, and looked great!, December 12, 2007

I used this server for grated Parmesan cheese. It worked great, was well balanced and it looked great.

It actually became a discussion item and a 'must have' for our dinner guests.

I was very pleased with the product

5.0 out of 5 stars Just like Alton Brown's, May 24, 2010

I have lusted after this item since I saw it on the Food Newwork years ago. Now I have it. Lust satisfied! It is just like Alton's, just like the picture. Keeps the salt clean and dry, and the little spoon (which Alton doesn't use) is more sanitary than using fingers. Love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not like Alton Brown's!, January 3, 2011

I got this thinking it was like the one Alton Brown uses, since Amazon was out of the salt server. However, this model has a notch in the lid for the spoon to rest when it's closed. This may lead to your salt getting clumpy due to the introduction of moisture (or worse, grease). Only use this if you plan to put cheese in it for serving at the table. Stick to the salt server if that's what you want.

Very functional and nice cheese server. Only might have liked a nicer material. The stainless is ok but I would have preferred an Armetale type metal - bit still very nice.

We became accustomed to using these while vacationing in Italy. We just had to have our own! We found them to be very practical for cheese and crushed red pepper.

... and found this instead. Works great for holding our course salts, which are available "in a pinch." The glass bowl sits pretty well in the metal frame, which is pretty sturdy. The lid flips up and stays up easily, so you don't have to worry about it closing you on while using. It suits our needs perfectly!
