3.0 out of 5 stars My Review
Okay, I'll be short and to the point. Although this album is great, I just don't think it lives up to previous albums (namely, Dude Ranch). Sure, they have some great songs on here, such as 'Mutt' and the unstoppable radio hit 'What's my Age Again?', but I can't really listen through the entire CD over and over again. Also, I think a lot of people now are loving the CD...

5.0 out of 5 stars "My Enema of the State Review"., December 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Enema Of The State [EDITED VERSION] (Audio CD)
This CD is Blink 182's best work yet!
Although it wasn't as punk as Dude Ranch with great songs like "Dammit" and "Waggy", I think the album overall was slightly better. It's a great balace between the wild punk of Dude Ranch and the proffesional punk-pop of Take Off Your Pants & Jacket.

1.Dumpweed: 9/10 Punk-rock near its best.

2.Don't Leave Me: 8/10 A good song.

3.Aliens Exist: 8/10 I like the lyrics in this song.

4.Going Away To College: 10/10 What more can I say?.....

5.Whats My Age Again: 10/10 Excellent (everything about this song is perfect.
6.Dysentary Garry: 7.5/10 A bit rough around the edges but still good.
7. Adam's Song: 10/10 A very emotional song. It still sends shivers up my spine.
8.All The Small Things: 5/10 It sounds too much like pop for my liking, but I'll take it over Bardot anyday.
9.The Party Song: 9.5/10 I would have given it a 10/10 if I could understand the lyrics more clearly.
10.Mutt: 8/10 I like the verses, Mark's voice sounds great!

11.Wendy Clear: 10/10 My favourite song on the CD!!!

12.Anthem: 9.5/10 A kick-... song to finish off the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute pop-punk classic, September 24, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Enema Of The State (Audio CD)
1999 was a crazy year. Everyone was getting prepared for Y2K. Everyone was out seeing Star Wars Episode 1, Toy Story 2, and The Sixth Sense. It was a year of popstars (Britney Spears, N*SYNC, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys) and rap-rockers (KoRn, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock), but among them came a little punk trio of guys in their mid-20's singing teen anthems along to simple, catchy, energetic music that would inspire hit music for years to come. That band was blink-182, the band that created tons of hits, inspired millions of teens to start bands, and popularized the term "pop-punk", and it all happened with this album.

Enema of The State is now considered a rock classic. From beginning to end, its one of the catchiest, most energetic, melodic, and loudest records ever. The lyrics range from hilarious (The Party Song) to heartfelt (Going Away To College), to a combination of both (Anthem).

Tom's powerchords are the loudest and crunchiest I've ever heard on a pop album, and his lead riffs are some of the simplelest but catchiest I've ever heard, and come on- what kid starting to learn guitar nowadays doesn't try to learn Adam's Song? Vocally his bratty voice fits songs perfect with him taking over the vocals on songs such as Dumpweed, Aliens Exist, Dysentary Gary, All The Small Things, Mutt, and Anthem. Mark plays bass very simply, but his tone is very clean and complements guitar and drums very well. His fills in the bridge of What's My Age Again? are perfect as well. Vocally Mark has a cleaner voice than Tom, which works well on the songs he sings- Don't Leave Me, Going Away To College, What's My Age Again, Adam's Song, The Party Song, and Wendy Clear. That brings us to Travis- but what hasn't been said about this guy already? He's f-ing amazing! His beats are incredibly fast and his fills are timed and calculated spot on. He's definetly got to be one of the greatest drummers of all time.

This record is just a straight up classic. Look at so many of the popular rock bands that emerged in the 2000's- Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco... Would any of these bands have been able to achieve so much popularity if blink hadn't kicked the doors of pop-punk wide open? I think not. So whether your just chilling in your room, going on a road trip, or having a pool party- throw this record on and rock out, because it's perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best CD in the punk rock catagory, May 24, 2000
By
Darlene McBride (Georgetown, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Enema Of The State (Audio CD)
This is by far the best CD that I have ever owned. Blink 182 not only delivers an outstanding performance but a hilarious one as well. Enema of the State is ideal for punk rock or even alternative fans.

Dumpweed - Doesn't make a lot of sense, but has a foot-tapping rythm that's real easy to get into.

Don't Leave Me - Pleasant, annoying tune that no one would mind your singing it out loud.

Aliens Exist - This song is one of my favorites-it has a real punk beat with brilliant lyrics that have that funny, immature Tom DeLonge ring to them.

Going Away to College - captures the uncertainty and intimidatingness of getting out into the real world-plus it has some awsome tunes.

What's My Age Again? - Exceptional guitar-playing and extremely funny and absurd words that you would expect from a fifteen-year-old adolescent.

Dysentary Gary - Puts a spiteful breakup into a fabulous song.

Adam's Song - Widely popular and for a good reason. Its one of the only songs on this album that forgets immaturity and goes to a deeper point of troubled teenager's view.

All the Small Things - Annoying tune that you don't mind getting under your skin.

The Party Song - Fast paced, rap-style song that speeds up and slows down while it leaves your tongue tied.

Mutt - My second favorite song on this album-Tom DeLonge really knows how to croon a story about a shallow, mislead couple.

Wendy Clear - Not one of the funniest or most popular, but Mark Hoppus's vocals make up for it.

Anthem - Awsome display of raw talent by drummer Travis Barker as he serves up an impressive beat in this rebellious song of misfits and outcasts.

A must-have addition to any punk rock fan's collection. If you like anything remotely close to Blink 182, then you'll love this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best cd in the whole wide world!, May 21, 2000

This review is from: Enema of the State (Audio CD)
I first bought the normal , one disc version of Enema of the State a few months ago. I fell in love with it. Then it got stolen, and I was going to order the norm one again. Then I saw this one and thought Hey, why not? I was amazed when it came. Not only does it have all the great tracks from the normal cd, it has bonus live tracks that just Kick Tail. One bad thing: Tom and Mark tend to talk about sex and swear a lot while they're talking in between songs. They're funny, though. This cd is a must for any Blink-182- fan opr just any punk fan. It's worth the dough.

I think Dude Ranch is a bit better, but if you really love the bands' music, you should consider this one too. I liked most of the songs on here, but you have to like this sort of music to really appreciate it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Okay, what's with all these bad reviews?, August 11, 2002
By
bryhil_04 (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Enema Of The State [EDITED VERSION] (Audio CD)
Why do people consider this a bad album! Well, it's not much different than the original album, only no swearing! It's amazing that someone actually said that Travis drums like a 5th grader, he's one of the best in the world, for crying out loud! He's so fast on the drums, it's amazing! Reckless Abandon is 248 on the metronome, and Wendy Clear is 236, my metronome doesn't even go that fast. I tried playing it on my keyboard, with just a simple beat, I couldn't even keep up! It's unbelievebly fast! In no way is Blink 182 sellouts. heck, I hardly ever heard All The Small Things on the radio, cause I hardly ever listened to the radio! What's the point anyway? Anyhow, I'm way off topic! All The Small Things is a great song! Here's the list. Check my review for the actual cd for my comments:

Dumpweed: 9/10
Don't Leave Me: 8.5/10
Aliens Exist: 9.5/10 the best!
Going Away To College: 10/10 the best song ever!!
What's My Age Again?: 9/10
Dysentary Gary: 9/10
Adam's Song: 9/10
All The Small Things: 9/10 great finish
The Party Song: 8.5/10
Mutt: 9/10
Wendy Clear: 9.5/10
Anthem: 10/10

This cd rules, and so does Travis! as well as Mark and Tom, plus their hilarious lyrics!! This rules!!

This review is from: Enema Of The State [EDITED VERSION] (Audio CD)
Blink 182 is still as great as a band as they used to be.I always hear people complaining about their new "pop" sound. They havent changed that much and now they sound much more mature then they used to.I dont see what other guys problems are with this cd cause i think its good as any one they have.Heres a list of the songs and a short description with a rating.

1.Dumpweed-Toms learned to sing on key and you will found that out by listening to this.Great fast paced song.10/10

2.Don't leave Me-This is a song about your girlfriend walking out on you.Nice funny song.9/10

3.Aliens Exist-Pretty dumb song about the only one i can skip.6/10

4.Going Away To College-Good song about having to go away from your girlfriend for awhile.9/10

5.What's My Age Again-The song that made them famous.I love this song.10/10

6.Dysentary Gary-this is one of my favorites.10/10

7.Adams Song-One of the greatest songs by this or any band.A very serious song about suicide.Anyone that doesnt like this song is gay.10/10

8.All The Small Things-Many people dont like this song because it put blink in the pop genre.Great song though.9/10

9.Party Song-Great Song about a guy that thinks some girls try to hard to impress some guys.10/10

10.Mutt-Not a bad song.I really like the drums to this.8/10

11.Wendy Clear-I like the way mark sings this but i really dont get the point.8/10
