Great and believeable read,
By
This review is from: Enemies Among Us: A Thriller (Paperback)
This is the kind of book I love. It has terrorist plots, undercover FBI work, great plot, and likable and believeable characters. Woven within the plot was also a strong Christian message. I really liked the main character, and hope the author does more books with him as the central character/hero of the story.
The story was made all the more believable and enjoyable for me knowing that the author is a former FBI agent who also did his share of undercover work. I highly recommend this book by a new fiction author, and though you women might enjoy it, I would recommend it more for men.

Bob,
CONGRATULATIONS on a home run! You managed to perfectly highlight the real-life bureaucracy that law enforcement must deal with without bogging the book down in the bureaucracy itself. Well done. Loved the story, the action, the mystery, the twist, and our new hero, Matt Hogan. Great stuff. My whole family is already looking forward to the next one, so I hope you're already writing. We all appreciated the overt Christian message, and I especially appreciated the insight into shame vs. guilt societies. That is a very important distinction in religions, and one that needs to be understood by more people! We all need to wake up to the threats around us, and "Enemies Among Us" is a haymaker dose of reality that grips and entertains for the entire ride. Congratulations! This book needs to be in every house in America! Great job!!!! -Marc Schmatjen, author of My Giraffe Makes Me Laugh

I couldn't put this book down. Having read "The Last Undercover", a true story of the author's undercover work for the FBI, I pre-ordered this from Amazon as soon as I heard about it. I wasn't disappointed. Sometimes fiction can touch on truth more accurately than fact. Bob Hamer has accurately described the embedded threat to our country by a group that is arguably more of an uncompromising political ideology than a religion. Islamofacism has become the "third rail" in American politics that our elected officials refuse to acknowledge or name. If you look hard enough to learn the activities of CAIR and the "anti-hate speech" support they get from the U.N., you already know this threat is very real. The Ft. Hood massacre had everything in common with the Christmas underwear bomber and other terrorist attacks. The fact that 2009 had a full one-third of all the attempted and successful attacks since 9/11 might suggest that radical Islam is trying harder and getting closer to another large successful attack. Are there peaceful Muslims or are all Muslims violent people? The author doesn't judge Muslims, he writes as though he knows many peaceful Muslims as I'm sure he does. But he does open your eyes with this gripping and well-written narrative.

New American Hero,
By
This review is from: Enemies Among Us: A Thriller (Paperback)
Bob Hamer's new novel, Enemies Among Us, portrays a realistic picture of those that would use our freedoms to destroy us. It is obviously written from a standpoint of knowledge about undercover operations and about the threats that abound in our society as a result of an overabundance of "political correctness". Bob's new protagonist, Matt Hogan, probably an alter ego, is destined to join with the heroes of Vince Flynn, David Baldacci, Lee Child and Brad Thor. Although this book is a "novel", it is probably more truth than fiction. It is a good and enjoyable read, I would recommend it to all those that enjoy mysteries and suspense.

Pretty good, wish I could rate it higher,

This is a good book, not great. I enjoyed the premise, an under cover FBI agent trying to figure out who the bad guys are and where their next attack will occur. I'm more of an action/suspense kind of guy and there was very little of that in this book. I do like the Christian message delivered by Hamer and big cudo's for the obvious lack of profanity! For me, it's a 4star primarily due to a lack of action and excitement or suspense. Hope this helps a little.

Bob Hamer's "Enemies Among Us" is a book that emotes all of the senses and emotions a person has. Feeling, seeing, taste ans smell, love, anger, compassion, sympathy, etc.
Matt Hogan is a "real" hero. I hope he comes back soon to take us on a another adventure

A Thrilling Read!,
By
This review is from: Enemies Among Us: A Thriller (Paperback)
Bob Hamer's new book, Enemies Among Us is suspenseful and intriguing! The action within this story draws the reader immediately. However, for me, the appeal wasn't just the thrill of the drama that unfolds in the novel. Drawing on his experiences, this author provides insight that his work as an undercover FBI agent uniquely provides. It intimately portrays the frustrations of the bureaucratic hurdles these agents must face, as well as the thrill and the hardships of the chase.
Additionally, the novel provides insight into the mind of criminals and terrorists in a way that few could capture adding to the believability and realism of the story. It also projects a strong Christian message. The perspectives presented leaves you pondering long after the last page is turned. Finally, this book made me realize just how blessed we are by these everyday heroes who risk their lives fighting dangers of which we are often unaware. I enjoyed this book very much and hope to see more from this author!

Matt Hogan, willful child of the FBI undercover program; Matt Hogan, family man; Matt Hogan, polished professional who refuses to jump to expedient conclusions
Bob Hamer's central character, Matt Hogan, is all of the above. And what is so clever about the novel is how Bob introduces us to his alter ego and keeps us interested. Set aside a few hours when you start to read this book. You'll become so invested in the story you won't want to stop.

I would call this an action book from a Christian perspective. The author is a former FBI agent and brings in many of the details of working undercover from the viewpoint of one who's been there. It'll never wind up being a classic but if you like Christian fiction, and you like intrigue and action, then I think you'll like this book.

Exciting read,
This review is from: Enemies Among Us: A Thriller (Paperback)
A truly refreshing and exciting book from a Christian author. Plus a bonus, Bob Hamer, a veteran FBI undercover agent of 26 yr. brings true realism with his real life experiences. If you are a "24" fan you will love it. I hope Matt does not retire. Bob's characters are real to life.
If you want true insight into the workings of an undercover agent read "The Last Undercover". |
