THE VERDICT

The leader of the Trio stood frozen in the doorway of the Winchester common room. I never imagined I'd live to see perfect, fierce Heather Fox looking this way. Her face was pale. Her usually glossed lips were bare and her mascara smudged.

My stomach tightened. The news about Julia's and Alison's fate couldn't be good.

"Heather, what happened?" I asked again. "What? Tell me." I slid off the couch and stood, facing her.

She walked to the fireplace and wrapped her arms across her chest.

"Heather -- " I started.

Her blue eyes were teary when she looked at me. "It's so awful," she said. "Julia and Alison. They -- " Heather buried her face in her hands and, in that moment, I forgot we were enemies.

"C'mon," I said. I put my hand on her elbow and guided her toward the couch. I sat beside her, surprised when she didn't snap at me to get out of her space.

After a few seconds she sat up straighter and began to talk.

"I waited in Orchard for Julia and Alison," Heather said. "When they finally showed up, they were a mess. They were sobbing. I mean, I could barely understand them."

"Okay," I coaxed. "Then what?"

"Julia said that Headmistress Drake called their parents," Heather said. "She told them that Julia and Alison had cheated on their history exam. Alison said they told the headmistress a million times they hadn't, but Drake insisted there was proof."

Heather sighed, rubbing her temples. Whatever she was about to say, I knew it was bad.

Heather took a deep breath, turning to me. Her face was blank. "Julia and Alison got kicked off the advanced team."

Hi! I'm Jessica Burkhart (Jess) and I write from Brooklyn, NY. I love that I can walk next door and get writer fuel aka Diet Coke and Oreos. :) I was born in 1987 in Nashville, TN and graduated from Florida State University in 2009.

I wrote my first middle-grade novel, TAKE THE REINS, in college and sold it just before graduation at nineteen as part of a four-book deal to Simon & Schuster.

I used to be an equestrian before I became a writer. I had to stop due to scoliosis. I had a spinal fusion at Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis in 2000.

Omigosh, I have been waiting FOREVER for this book!!! I got my copy today and read it in 2 hours. Its better than all of the other Canterwood books and I've read those 10 times or more. Please keep writing them, Jessica!!!

This book is probably one of the best books about horses and riders. I love how the author drags you into the book so you feel like you're in it. This whole series I would suggest reading!!!! This is a really really really really etc. good book to read!! If you think you will be wasting your time reading it then you're wasting time waiting! :)

I thought this book was awesome!
The main character is Sasha Silver, she, in the previous books had a huge crush on Jacob Schwartz (the Zac Effron cutie) but Sasha had a few enemies and they(the enemies) broke up Sasha and Jacob before they even actually started dating. (it was kinda Jacob's fault too) And Sasha was a little upset for a few books but then she realized there was another boy (her BFF Eric) she really liked a LOT bettter and Eric had had a crush on Sasha since they'd met a year before...so needless to say that at in book 4 Triple Fault they were bf/gf.
So anyway in Best Enemies Eric and Sasha are sooo happy and Sasha's BFF is with Jacob and everyone is happy...or so they thought... And amidst all of this Charm(Sasha's horse) and Sasha are out to win competitions and get on the YENT. (Youth Equestrian National Team)
And there is SO much more I could tell you about these books but then I'd ruin 'em
