Well, I went out and bought this game, installed it into my windows ME machine, 800mhz, 256 Ram, 64M video card..all looked good to me, but program wont run at all. Customer support says "We don't know if it works with Windows ME" I would think this would be something they should know! Bottom line is, I am taking it back and waiting for comanche4 to come out...

Ok, here was my situation. I am dying for a good chopper sim, I have Commanche Gold but that is like a kiddie sim. Then suddenly its "Enemy Engaged: RAH-66 Commanche vs. KA-52 Hokum B:Aligator" It is buy far the longest name I've seen. Well I was a little scared with my experience with "Gunship!." So i get the nerve up and order this game, I see the ups truck and I have a feeling that I am going to be in for some real Whirly Bird action. I pop the CD into the drive, then after a several minute installation I start the game. I see four choices the first being combat so I click it, next another menu appears I click Free Flight and select a region. Suddenly I am in Russia's finest attack helicopter on the deck of the KIEV aircraft Carrying Cruiser. So I take-off and decide to play with the radar, I get it working and decide, let me betray my comrads and get them, I get good tone!! IGLA AWAY!!!!! suddenly another KA-52 is destroyed but I was too close!!! I take damage and I am going down!!!!!!!! Luckily I am in the Hokum the only Helo in the world with and ejection seat. Then I said to myself, Scott you finally nailed a good helo sim.

I am happy with my purchase and I feel like sharing the wealth.

This is one of my most highly recommended Games Out there, Perfect for you weekend armchair pilots!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars more of the best, August 3, 2000

If you loved the realism and feel of apache/havoc, this sim stays true to it. Both the hokum and comanche flight models are excellent with improved graphics and cockpit interiors. Likewise, if you already own apache/havoc, the two sims can be combined for double the flying arenas. A must-buy for helicopter sim lovers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great gameplay and graphics but it got old quite fast, November 4, 2001

When I went game shopping at (a retail store), I saw this cover which caught my eye. I went home to check the reviews, all of which said it was a great game. I went back the next day and bought it. I excitedly brought it home to find it was an instant hit.

But like most fads, it faded away quickly. If they had put in more sounds besides the hum of the engine, it would have been more exciting. Also, if they added more gameplay styles besides wait 5 minutes on 4x speed increase with the autopilot, shoot a couple of times, turn around, wait another 5 minutes on auto pilot, then repeat it over and over. This is not a game for excitement.

This is a game for realism. Every single graphic in the game was realistic. The physics were realistic, difficulty had the option of being realistic, and the war was realistic.

What really kept me going was the fact that it was a war simulation. You could watch the whole war and effect the outcome. Unlike most flight sims, there aren't "levels," or seperate missions which seperated the excitement of battle. You can choose your mission, and the battle keeps going every second.

Overall, this game was excellent, but the repetition was annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Combat Helicopter Flight Sim!!!, January 5, 2006

This is the follow-up to the acclaimed Enemy Engaged: Apache Havoc sim and just expands on the incredible depth and immersion of the first simulation. In "Enemy Engaged: Rah-66 Comanche versus KA-52 Hokum", two state of the art war machines are placed in your hands. The U.S. has the RAH-66 Comanche and the Russian side uses the Ka-52 Hokum B. The flight systems and modeling is detailed and spectacular, but the game wasn't only built with the veteran flight sim jockey in mind. Razorworks put the ability to change the difficultly into the game, so that each gamer could progress at their own speed. Since the game was released in 2000, computer hardware and operating system software has changed and evolved, which may cause difficulty with someone installing this for the first time, but the Enemy Engaged sim community at SimHQ.com has addressed the problems of new hardware and has even advanced the game to spectacular levels of detail. While 'Comanche vs. Hokum' is a stand alone game, it can be combined with 'Apache Havoc' which enables the user to have four aircraft (Apache, Havoc, Comanche, Hokum) and combat areas of both games. While you can fly the aircraft using the keyboard, it's highly advised to use at least a joystick and preferably a throttle and pedals. I've logged hundreds of hours in this simulation and still play it today, using up-to-date hardware and software. This game is a "MUST HAVE" for any helicopter simulation enthusiast.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best helicopter sim on the pc, April 20, 2003

When i bought this game I didnt even want it, it came with another game that I did want. But when i installed this I was blown away, this game the $hit. You can either pilot an American Commanche or a Russian Hokum, personally I prefer the Commanche. The controls take getting used to but the flying and the combat are wonderful, it has a complete and detailed manual and the game is very accurate. The graphics are the best part, they make combat flight simulator 2 look like an atari game, the system requirements are low and it runs on windows xp. This game is highly underrated and it is unfortunatley an overlooked gem that deserves more attention.

That in itself tells me to look elsewhere for good product with good support.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice game but...., November 24, 2001

Enemy Engaged is a nice game. The graphics look great and the gameplay is detailed and realistic. Almost too realistic actually. If you are looking for a sim that has a lot of high octane action that has you scrambling to take out multiple enemies all at once, look elsewhere. Action is not the focus of EE. Realism is the name of the game.

Overall a good game. Tech. support could be better though.
