Very cool fantasy rock,

This review is from: Enemy Glory Darkly Blessed (Audio CD)
I got this CD because I got hooked by Michalson's novel, Enemy Glory, and I was curious to hear what her band's musical version sounded like. It's worth a listen - even if you haven't read her novel. Michalson has a strange, hypnotic voice that you will either love or hate (I love it!) and she's an impressive bassist. The guitar solos simply rock - there is nothing else to say. I was tapping my feet all the way through. Michalson reads some passages from Enemy Glory. I can only describe her voice as passionate, intense, and utterly believable. My only complaint is that if you haven't read the book, some of the depth of the CD is lost. But it's still worth having.

Hypnotic and Alluring,

"Enemy Glory Darkly Blessed" is a wonderful addition to the Llewelyn mythos constructed in Karen Michalson's books ("Enemy Glory" and "Hecate's Glory"), but the cd can easily be enjoyed on it's own merit as well. The vocals are poetic and hypnotic, and cannot help but ensnare the listener in the progression of the tracks. It is best listened to in a dark and quiet room, with no intrusions to fully appreciate the depth of the lyrics and the evocative quality of the music. Point of Ares does not fail to bring forth the vivid imagery inherent in the lyrics. This cd should not be neglected by any Llewelyn fan. It strengthens and deepens one understanding and appreciation for the books.
