1.0 out of 5 stars This book equates the civil rights movement with communism.
I can't believe anyone could, in honest conscience, rate this book so highly as the Mormon sycophants that are crowding this page.

At best, this book is good as historical reference. It illustrates quite well the mindset in 1969. Communist this, communist that - anything the author disapproves of is tied to a communist plot and is also considered...

This review is from: Enemy Hath Done This (Paperback)
Ezra Benson, former Secretary of Agriculture, has written an outstanding source of insight on how the United States' government is supposed to work, according to the Constitution. Benson references many of the principles of good government our founding fathers intended to institutionalize by adopting our Constitution, and prescriptively details how our government would operate today if those principles and Constitutional mandates were followed. For example, the author propounds a solution for Social Security so that it would be safe forever by explaining what it would look like if the Constitution were followed, and he requires only a few pages to elucidate it. Anybody seeking to understand how the U.S. Constitution resolves the debate over the most significant problems facing our government today should read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gives the reader the truths that our government hides., January 28, 2000

This review is from: Enemy Hath Done This (Paperback)
Filled with unknown information to todays politically correct world of lies. Gives proof that communism and totalitarianism's tyranny is as much of a threat today to America as it was to Russia during the Jewish revolutions after WW1. It fully explains how the government exploits the nation's ill race relations and in fact promotes racial hatred in order to "control" the masses, ironically. --This book may be out of print here, but every Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon) bookstore carrys it. Also check out the book "Behold a Pale Horse", another book written by a Christian, former government leader.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book by one of the nation's greatest patriots, December 12, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Enemy Hath Done This (Paperback)
This book is a must read. Ezra Taft Benson is a patriot of the caliber of Thomas Jefferson, only better. He writes of the human condition under the control of what appears to be government out of control, acting more like a private corporation than a government. He gives solutions. This book describes the situation our nation is in. It recognizes the People of this nation (the United States of America) as Israel. It warns us to awaken to the powers that be and to get back onto the Constitution lest we be destroyed. It warns that the Constitution is hanging by a thread and the people can save it only if they awaken and proactively take responsibility to get rid of the socialistic (and facisitc) controls over the people and go back to personal responsibility in the individual Sovereign nature of the People themselves. We must stop using private corporations called government to control the people and go back to the people controling themselves. This book awakens people of America to their Stewardhsip in Israel as described in the Bible. The book is great. I highly recomend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars No people can maintain freedom unless their political institutions are found upon faith in God and belief in moral law, July 22, 2011
By
Golden Lion "Reader" (North Ogden, Ut United States) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)
1. Great nations are never conquered from outside unless they are rotten inside. Our greatest national problem today is erosion, not erosion of the soil but erosion of the national morality - erosion of traditional enforcement of law and order.
2. We continue to move in the direction of more federal intervention, more concentration of power, more spending, more taxing, more paternalism, most state-ism says Dr. Ernest Wikinson.
3. It is high time we awakened to the dangers of excessive government in business, in education, in agriculture, and other segments of our economy. It is time we realized the perils of too great a centralization of power, and too much dependence on the public agencies. We must stand up and be counted. Senator Strom Thurmond said, "socialism can be brought about by government regulation, taxation, and control of property almost as effectively as by outright state ownership of the means of production and distribution."
4. The fight against the godless conspiracy is a very real part of every man's duty. It is a fight against slavery, immorality, atheism, cruelty, barbarism, deceit, and the destruction of human life through a kind of tyranny unsurpassed by anything in human history. Here is a struggle against the evil satanical priestcraft of Lucifer.
5. Raids on the federal treasury can be all to rapidly accomplished by an organized few over the feeble protests of an apathetic majority. With more and more activity centered in the federal government, the relationship between the costs and benefits of government programs becomes obscure. What follows is the voting of public money without having to accept direct local responsibility for higher taxes. Progress on localities will leave states an empty shell, afterwhich, states will be left too, function as field districts, of the federal government. President Benson said, "The history of all mankind shows very clearly that if we would be free - and if we would stay free - we must stand eternal watch against the accumulation of too much power in government". The idea that the federal government is wealthy and the states are poverty stricken is an error. States have rights and responsibilities and opportunities to serve the people.
6. America beliefs, principles, and attitudes are threatened by "a well-meaning but uninformed people who see the shortcomings of our economic system and believe they can legislate them out of existence"; "self-serving men who see government legislation a way to obtain special privileges for themselves or to restrain competition"; "a small group dedicated to the overthrow of the economic and social system that is our tradition". The Promised Land cannot be reached by passing laws. Excessive regulation reduces freedom. Government should not serve the purpose of acquiring special privilege or to restrain competitors. A market economy needs free enterprise to survive and monopolistic barriers kill opportunity. Subversive should be punished. Groups dedicated to the overthrow of the economic and social system of government should be punished. Free enterprise is based on free choice and free agency, an eternal God-given principal.
7. And the voices of those who tried to warn Washington of what was coming cannot be attributed to hate. It has been out of love for our country and respect for our leaders that the voice of warning has been raised.
8. Our enemies of freedom are destroying the constitution and republic through ten ways: a. By diplomatic recognition and aid and trade with the communist b. by disbarment of our military defenses c. By destruction of our security laws and promotion of atheism d. By loss of sovereignty and solvency through international commitments and membership in world organizations E. By undermining the local law enforcement agencies f. by usurpations by the executive and judicial branches of government g. by lawlessness in the name of civil rights h. by a staggering national debt with rising inflation i. by executive orders and federal programs that weaken local and state government j. War
9. Once Americans get the facts about the socialistic-communism, they will realize how the liberals are helping the enemy. Liberals attack patriotic organizations. There strategy is to focus on one organization and make it detestable and ugly in the public mind. We are blind to the hard fact that nations usually sow the seeds of their own destruction while enjoying unprecedented prosperity.
10. May God give us the wisdom to recognize the dangers of complacency, the threat to our freedom and the strength to meet this danger courageously?
11. The fight for freedom is God's fight. So when a man stands for freedom he stands with God. And as long as he stands for freedom he stands with God. And were he to stand alone he would still stand with God. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty; and because truth is eternal, any man will be eternally vindicated and reward for his stand for freedom. Men receive blessings when they are obedient. "This is still God's world." "The final and eternal victory shall be for free agency."
12. Where ever communism has come to power, it has destroyed the indispensible conditions for the intellectual and more existence of man. The war is waged on the moral, intellectual, and economic fronts of human existence between two irreconcilable systems. Communism is fervent atheism and derides the human soul. The Totalitarian state encompasses society in all of its spheres, runs on a one-party system, uses secret police to control the mass, imprisons people in concentration camps, and commits heinous crimes.
13. All trade with the communists was between the governments, not the people and the Russian Kremlin used goods for strategic military assets against the West. We should stop the senseless bridge building.
14. In 1924,Lenin outlined his strategy for conquest: first, take Eastern Europe then the masses of Asia and encircle the United States. In 1939, Poland was betrayed; in 1940, the communist took over part of the liberty in Finland; communism swallowed up Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania; in 1946, Albania, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Romania, and Bulgaria fell to communism; and in 1948, Czechoslovakia fell. In 1950, Stalin formalized the puppet state of East Germany. In 1950, main land China was enslaved. In 1951, Russia invaded Tibet. In 1953, the Korea truce was agreed upon and by 1954 most of Indonesia was taken over.
15. The only think which can possibly stop the communist is for the America people to learn the truth in time; and to become alert and inform and expose and oppose the conspiring system.
16. Governments become a mechanism for defense against bodily harm, theft, and involuntary servitude. It cannot claim the power to redistribute the wealth of force reluctant citizens to perform acts of charity against their will. Government is force. Governments do not create wealth.
17. No one has the authority to grant such powers as welfare programs, schemes for redistributing the wealth, and activities that coerce people into acting in accordance with a prescribed code of social planning. "History proves that the growth of the welfare state is difficult to check before it comes to its full flower of dictatorship."
18. No people can maintain freedom unless their political institutions are found upon faith in God and belief in the existence of moral law.
19. It is immoral for government to own or operate the means of production and distribution of goods in competition with private enterprise.
20. All taxes imposed should be uniform and assets taxed at the same rate.
21. Gold and silver should be convertible as currency
22. Each state has sovereign functions and reserved powers granted by the Constitution.
23. The federal government should not levy taxes for the support of the state or local governments. States and local governments should remain independent and it they are receiving money from the federal government then they cannot maintain their independence.
24. States should be strong enough to protect against invasion.
25. There is nothing in the Constitution that grants that the President shall have the privilege of offering himself as a world leader. The President and Congress are not grant power by the Constitution to have power or influence over the political life of other countries. George Washington said, "No nation has the right to intermeddle in the internal concerns of another; that everyone had a right to form and adopt whatever government they liked best to live under themselves."
26. The goal of US foreign policy should be to keep our nation independent.
27. Many Americans have been led to believe that our country is so strong that it can defend, fed, and subsidize half the world while at the same time believing that they are so weak and interdependent that we cannot survive without pooling our resources and sovereignty with those we subsidize
28. The plea for world federalism is based on the idea that the mere act of joining separate political units together into a larger federal entity will somehow prevent those units from waging war with each other.
29. James Madison said, "War is the parent of armies; from these proceeding debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few".
30. To prepare for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving the peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars In response to the negative review..., June 16, 2011
By
E. Bronte (Michigan, USA) - See all my reviews
Ezra Taft Benson believed in civil equality. He also believed that Communists hijacked the Civil Rights movement in order to further underlying political agendas-- in order to get things done under the radar that they could never have accomplished out in the open. His words mean to say "This isn't what it appears to be. Watch the other hand." Naturally, his opponents will try to turn our attention to a feigned denigration of the holy, untouchable term 'Civil Rights.' I think we can all point to multiple uses of this defense tactic-- nationalized healthcare, government bailouts, participation in undeclared wars... naturally these things are all being done for the good of the little guy. Nothing else to see here.

As for "Communist this and Communist that," if you understand what the word 'Communist' means, you understand that there is no more relevant word to use. Communism is the opposite of individual freedom. Instead of a human being profiting under his own hard work and genius and then choosing to give to his neighbor, Communist governments forcibly remove all goods and lands from all people, regardless of their hard work or genius, and distribute it as it deems fit. To reference a C.S. Lewis philosophy, one school of thought wants to create great individuals who willingly choose to do good and 'be one,' and the other wants to consume and absorb individuals into a collective that has no freedom to rule itself. Only Lewis, in this case, was talking about God vs. Satan.

I love the work of Ezra Taft Benson, including this book. His insights were guided by both his spirituality and his experience in Government (as Secretary of Agriculture under Eisenhower.) His bold assertions are more relevant today than they were when he wrote them, as we can now see the fruiting of the political trees that were only seeds when he was alive. His warnings should be heeded.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Counter to Rules For Radicals, December 6, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
2 years before Saul Alinsky wrote his book "Rules for Radicals" Ezra Taft Benson wrote "An Enemy Hath Done This." This book is the counter to everything that Saul Alinsky wrote in his "pragmatic primer." This book is clearly superior to Saul Alinsky's and exposes the lies that radicals and progressives have been telling for the last century! Although Ezra T. Benson's book was originally written for the Woodstock generation, anyone who reads it will find that it is just as relevant today (perhaps more), than when it was written 41 years ago! It you want to know how your country got into its current sad state of affair, with radicals and progressives filling the highest seats of power, look no further than this book!

This is one of most important and timeless books I have read in the last decade; it clearly defines what we (Americans) have to do to restore our country. This book is a must read for every patriotic American who wants to preserve our God inspired Constitution; our liberties, our rights, and our freedoms!

This review is from: Enemy Hath Done This (Paperback)
This book is a voice from the dust. The late Ezra Taft Benson reveals to the world how real the threat of Communism is to the free World. This book was written in the 60's and it still rings true forty years later. In our present day we see terrorism as a viable threat to the sovereignty of the United States but what we fail to realize is that there are rotten apples in the bottom of the Government barrel that are going to spoil the rest of the bunch. This book is a weapon of knowledge that can be wielded to combat the communist assault on agency and the right to choose. The book is well researched and documented and should be in the library of all patriots and freedom loving people. It is not a call to arms but it is a call to reality.

Unless we remove these bad apples and replace them with new one we will proceed down a slippery slope from whence there may be no return. An Enemy Hath Done This brings to light the real threat that is facing the world. Communism is real and alive today we just call it another name, Liberalism.

Chris Tew (Logan, Utah, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Enemy Hath Done This (Paperback)
This book does an excellent job of outlining what American freedom is, why it exists, and what must be done to keep it. It debunks many of the common lies spread by socialists, communists and fascists that threaten freedom around the world and in America. Every good citizen should read this book, heed its warnings, and take the actions urged by its learned author.
