4.0 out of 5 stars The Enemy, April 14, 2010

This review is from: The Enemy (Paperback)
Malcolm is a secret agent of the government, enjoying a typical weekend at his father-in-law's house. He is thinking of proposing to Penny to get married, but something terrible happens: someone throws acid in Penny's sister's face (Gillian). George Ashton, Penny's father, leaves the house without telling anybody. So Malcolm decides to start an investigation and discovers more than he is supposed to know.
Ashton is not the man he seemed to be, and the government is involved in every problem. Malcolm is assigned Ashton's case by his boss Ogilvie. In his investigation, he obtains a lot of information, and information is power. At the end, he discovers the true: the whole situation is led by the government, a lot of secrets, because information is power and the Minister wants everything for his benefit...

In my opinion, this is a really good book, which grips you from the beginning and on every page it becomes more and more interesting. The language is simple and easy to understand, and the reader doesn't know what's happening at all; in every chapter more secrets are revealed, but not all of them. It's just at the end when I understood the problem, the situation that was happening, and everything made sense. I can recommend this book to people who like short, exciting and suspenseful stories.
