Editorial Reviews

Swan Lake is the musical collaboration of Daniel Bejar (Destroyer, New Pornographers), Spencer Krug (Sunset Rubdown, Wolf Parade), and Carey Mercer (Frog Eyes, Blackout Beach). While their debut was a beautifully weaved mash up of disparate songwriting styles, this second effort reflects a more stripped down, deliberate approach to collaboration. It's as if they really tried to just make nice songs together. LP contains digital download coupon.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Glorious Supergroup May 5, 2013

Destroyer, Wolf Parade, and Frog Eyes are all unique and interesting bands on their own, but bringing them together creates something that feels like it was just meant to be. Whether you like this album or prefer "Beast Moans", hearing the three of them sing together is an unforgettable experience that deserves more albums.

This album is a bit short, but hearing Carey Mercer take such thunderous demand over the songs "Spanish Gold, 2044", "Peace", and "Warlock Psychologist", with Spencer Krug and Dan Bejar playing their strengths both with lead and back vocals makes this album truly astonishing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Spencer Krug makes it worth it May 5, 2010
Format:Audio CD
I'm not a huge fan of this album overall, but the three or four tracks by Spencer Krug (of Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown) are ones I listen to over and over. I can't stand Dan Bejar and I'm on the fence about Carey Mercer, but I'm always looking for more material from Krug.
