About the Author

Author Anne DeLacey takes you with her amidst the terrifying ruins of London 1940. Her recollections will carry you back to the unfolding horror as the full might of the Third Reich prepares its onslaught upon her island.

You ll absorb yourself in perilous adventure as Anne takes you moment by moment through the carnage as she, her family, together with her nation, cope with the sleepless nights and dire days. Yet through it all, she emerges steadfast from the rubble, and with renewed vigor, lives on to tell her tale in Enemy Planes Above Us.

Anne's account makes excellent reading for middle and high school students, as well as adults.

More About the Author

Anne DeLacey was born to British parents in the British Colony of Sarawak, on the island of Borneo, now Malaysia, in Southeast Asia. Her parents took her to England prior to Word War II, where she grew up. That was a good move on their part, since the Japanese invaded British Malaya and Borneo in late 1941.
Some of those early war years involved living away from her parents at Catholic boarding convents, a brief stay with relatives in another part of England, followed by a final reunion with her mother, father, and herself. She then moved to join her father at a Royal Air Force base in southern England where he was a Squadron Leader in the RAF.
She experienced quite a lot of trauma during the war years, consisting of several Luftwaffe day and night air raids on the air base, and in particular, a night air raid while visiting central London with her parents.
She completed her education after the war, attended a renowned London secretarial college for a year, and was employed by a leading London bank, prior to her leaving England for a new life in America.
In June 1958, She met her future husband while he was visiting London. She then moved to America later that year, and has resided in Iowa since. Unfortunately, her husband passed away in 1995.
She is now retired, and is enjoying a leisurely life of writing and travel.
She loves all animals, and fully supports wildlife conservation, and supports preservation of the environment.
She has two adult sons, one granddaughter, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter.
In her leisure, she enjoys her family, traveling, writing, watching good movies, and listening to great jazz.
