About the Artist

One of music's premier pop punk bands, Four Year Strong, are set to release their heavily anticipated third full length album, Enemy of the World, on Decaydance/Universal Motown Records on March 9th. The band, Dan O'Connor (Vocals/Guitar), Alan Day (Vocals/Guitar), Josh Lyford (Vocals/Synth), Jake Massucco (Drums), and Joe Weiss (Bass), was formed in Massachusetts in 2001 after O'Connor, Day, and Massucco met through mutual friends. With influences like Lifetime, Saves the Day, Gorilla Biscuits, and New Found Glory, FYS has always strived to create music that they themselves would enjoy as listeners. Their motivation has manifested itself in a fluid mix of everything from punk pop to hardcore to indie rock. Their distinct sound and incredibly energetic live shows has led to their inclusion on countless national tours and also caught the attention of Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, who signed FYS to his label Decaydance Records in February 2008. The band's heightened profile hasn't stopped them from working diligently as they continued a hectic touring schedule last year as a part of the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour and co-headlining a summer tour with --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.

This album is solid, I can't really say much bad about it. The sound quality compared to the last album Rise or Die Trying is noticeably improved and the songs seem much more tightly knit. The songs are all pretty good, but the only reason I give it 4/5 is because there is nothing here that caught my ear. All the songs are B+ material and aren't as catchy as the last album was. The ones that seem to actually be catchy seem a bit repetitive and get old after a few listens such as "Wasting Time". However there are some gems on this album, like "What The Hell Is A Gigawatt?", "Nineteen with Neck Tats", "One Step at a Time", and "This Body Pays the Bill$". Those songs enough are worth the price of admission. I've been listening for several days now and I feel that the album will grow on me, I was just hoping for something to knock my socks off from the beginning.

Final Verdict: Do yourself a favor and buy it now.

Man... not even really sure what to say about this album. I went to Newbury Comics near where I live in Lowell Massachusetts to get this record when it came out (yesterday), but didn't get a chance to listen to it until today... and that's pretty much all I've been doing all day. I think I've played it at least 6 times today. I LOVED Rise or Die Trying, and these guys are awesome in concert. Saw them do their annual Christmas show in Worcester this year. But Rise or Die Trying doesn't even hold a candle to this album. The first single "It Must Really Suck To Be Four Year Strong Right Now" is just an incredibly epic way to start off the album, and it never slows down from there. Their synth player, Josh Lyford, has a much more prominent vocal role on this album, which is awesome because it definitely adds a lot to their sound. My favorite songs must be "On A Saturday", "What the Hell is a Gigawatt", and "One Step at a Time." It's hard to say, though, because I honestly feel like every song is as good as the one before it. BUY THIS ALBUM! You will not regret it! Support these guys as much as you can. They're a great group from around where I live, and it's wicked good to see them getting the recognition they deserve. Give the 30-second samples a listen. If you like what you hear, you'll love this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Four year strong is f f f f FRESH!!!, October 29, 2011
This review is from: Enemy of the World [Vinyl] (Vinyl)
okay, so four year strong is seriously the most underrated band, and yet most deserving band, that there is on the market today. this band delivers absolutely everything anyone could possibly ever want from a band without going to the extremes of gayass popstardom and selling out. they seriously have always crafted their work into a vibe that gets you straight up pumped up and wanting to go do something that will change the world. not gunna lie too, they make a great longboard jam session to sing your heart out to and dance your arse off. but anyways, this is a type of music that is able to get you pumped up without that gay ass screaming b.s. and is just overdone and not original anymore. I seriously wish that this band was recognized for their full potential and headlining tours better than ozzfest. good vibes, good music, insane riffs, technically relatively hard music to play on the guitar, it sounds absolutely amazing and it gives faith that the music industry is no longer dead anymore. ill admit, four year strong is a hero to the rock community and brings a huge breath of fresh air into music. To anyone who is able to bother reading this, this album alone will have the potential to change your life for the better. the rest of their work is good enough to inspire you throughout the hardest times and put a smile on your face. go four year strong, you guys are icons in my book, and despite the fact that i have yet to hear you on the radio, you are always incorporated into every playlist i make and i will always reccomend you to a fellow rockers. cant wait to see you all in spokane, and remember, this band is our generations "the beattles", even though the beattles suck by comparison.... just sayin.....
