This review is from: Enemy Zero (CD-ROM)
First of all, I'm not going to attempt to review the game and it's content just by a port, the game was originally ment to be played in the Sega Saturn. So for those of you who really want to be sold on how good this game is, I refer you to the HVGN's Enemy Zero review, which you can find by googling "HVGN" and looking through his videos. No, I'm here to review performance and how good this port is.
Let me just tell you a few things, the game comes with no manual what's so ever, just a few instructions that are plastered in the back of the inside of the case. Instead, the manual and everything you need is accesible throught the launching exe. Making this exe work was, so to say, a pain. I had to Exit the application and search for another application in the folder, known as "Setup". I clicked it, installed the game (rather, installed a launcher into the system), and linked that launcher to Steam so all I had to do was click the Steam button and the game would launch. There is no way to install the game into your computer, so you are going to have the CDs at hand in order to play it. Yes, I said CDs, as Enemy Zero comes in 4 different CDs, just like the Saturn counterpart. But unlike the Saturn, these CDs are red colored, with a big "XPLOSIV" name tag, and a small "Enemy Zero: Disc #" on the lower part. Apart from that, there really is not much to talk about in terms of case. Let's move on to the actual game.
Like I said, running the EXE was a pain, but it was worth it to finally make it into Eno's masterpiece. Sadly, Enemy Zero (predictibly) has no Mouse Support (At least not that I know of), no video configuration settings beyond a few "Direct X" ones. Basically, it's a plain port of the Sega Saturn version. The games plays fine, with the controls being simple. The arrows move you in a Tank scheme (No way to change this), Z readies your gun, and ultimately fires it, X automatically runs in the direction you are facing (no need to push forward, just keep the key pressed), A strafes left and S strafes right. Other than that, there's not much to the controls.
Overall, it's a shameless PC port, but if you are on the need to urgently play this game and you don't want to buy a Saturn, buy this game. Believe me, it's worth even having to put up with the bad job XPLOSIV made with this port.
