5.0 out of 5 stars Love these!!!
When I bought these online I was hoping they would be delicious. I got them in and immediatly made hot dogs for the family. With these buns I found they needed to be microwaved to really get a hot dog bun taste to them. However, what I found to be even better is that with the size they looked more like hoagies to me, so of course I had to make hoagies and steak and cheese...

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay
These were okay. I didn't like that they weren't presliced. They were VERY thick & heavy. My daughter liked them for the novelty of eating a bun again... but finished the hotdog by itsself after trying half of this.. (She threw the rest away.) You have to microwave or cook these first. They were more trouble than they were worth.
I wish they'd make them with the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Love these!!!, November 9, 2007
This review is from: Ener-G Foods Tapioca Hot Dog Buns, 7.76-Ounce Units (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
When I bought these online I was hoping they would be delicious. I got them in and immediatly made hot dogs for the family. With these buns I found they needed to be microwaved to really get a hot dog bun taste to them. However, what I found to be even better is that with the size they looked more like hoagies to me, so of course I had to make hoagies and steak and cheese sandwiches with these!!! I made the steak and cheese, then I put the sandwich together and into the oven. OMG!!! I will never buy anything else again!! I know some people just want hot dog buns, but I found a better use for them. My kids still love to have their hot dogs on these buns, but I prefer them for steak and cheese. I am happy and the kids are happy. Some people complain because these are not precut, ummm, so what!?! if you have a knife you can split them the way you want:) these are also great for making pizza. I know these are hot dog buns, but I really dont like hot dogs so found other uses. again my kids love them with hot dogs!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Multiple Allergies, August 3, 2006

This review is from: Ener-G Foods Tapioca Hot Dog Buns, 7.76-Ounce Units (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I have multiple food allergies, i need gluten free, egg free & soy free foods. I think these are great and have a good soft texture unlike most gluten free breads. I am so happy that I can still eat gluten free breads without soy & egg in it. For me these are awesome. Much better than even GF bakery stuff I've tried in the past. But then again, for me it's hard to find gluten free, egg free, soy free things. Ener-G & Enjoy Life goods are a god-send!! Thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite GF Hot Dog Bun!, March 15, 2007

I have tried several different brands, and these are my favorite by far! Many are too hard to wrap around the hot dog. I microwaved one of the EnerG Hot Dog Buns for about 15 seconds, and that made it better.....Still VERY GOOD though, much better than any other I have found!

These buns are spectacular, and I feel sorry for anyone who just rips the package open, slaps a hot dog in, and takes a bite. To be edible, they *must* be heated in the microwave until they're hot to the touch. Be careful not to burn yourself, but if you don't heat them enough, they're very dry and unsatisfying.

It can also help to get a tiny bit of moisture into the microwave with them. I usually heat mine on a plate I've splashed with a tiny bit of water. Or sometimes I'll try flicking just a bit of water onto the buns themselves before heating (you can easily overdo it).

Done properly, they're awfully close to the real thing. Which is an amazing treat if you can't have gluten.

Although I'm not a big fan of Ener-G products overall, their hot dog buns are as close as I've found to regular wheat buns. Like most gluten-free items they need a little heating first to improve texture: I microwave them in a damp paper towel for about 35 seconds before eating, but they hold a hot dog/brat with condiments without either breaking apart in the middle or crumbling. And, they have a neutral flavor which does not detract from the meat.

This product was delivered in a timely manner. My whole family enjoy this product - both taste and texture are very good. The only reason I have not given the hot dog buns 5 stars is that one pack has gone mouldy - several months prior to the exparation date and within a sealed pack! A review of packaging perhaps?

We use these rolls all the time.I actually don't think they are that great for hot dogs,a little too much bread and not that soft. I really love them for french bread pizza. They toast nicely and add a nice thick crunch. They are also great toasted for garlic bread or sticks to enjoy with a steaming cup of chicken soup. The price is right too. Try them.

I have not been able to find a bun that was edible until I tried these. They are much better after being warmed in a microwave for about 25 seconds. I like the fact they do not require refrigeration until after opening. I wrap unused buns individually in plastic wrap and place in zip lock bag and refrigerate or freeze.

I wish they'd make them with the same recipe as their "light" white rice bread loaf... they'd probably be really good...
