This is a great game for any gymnastics lover or injured gymnast. (That's me) However, the instructions aren't very detailed. I'm up to the second to last place to go and I'm fighting for everything, and somehow my scores keep on depleting. Just to let you know, when you open up the game and get started, you may notice that there are diagonal lines to draw for different tricks, but when you try to put them in, nothing happens except for "Oops" appearing at the bottom of the screen. YOU MUST PUT IN A SIDE TO SIDE OR UP AND DOWN TRICK BEFORE YOU CAN ENTER THE DIAGONAL LINES IN! Also, what I found annoying was that though there is a picture of a girl with brownish-blackish hair on the cover, but you can not, I repeat cannot, change your hair color from redish-orangeish.

This game is pretty fun. If you have a child who loves gymnastics, this is the game to get! You can compete onn the bars, beam, floor, vault, and even freestyle. As you go, you can learn and master new skills such as handsprings and flips. You can even make your own character! The fault in the game is that it is hard to get started. I would definitely not recommend this for children younger than 4th grade. Even I, a 12-year old had trouble with it. But, after a couple days of practice, my 4th grade sister was able to figure it out and now she loves it. Overall, this is a great game for the gymnasts at heart, it just takes practice!

I purchased this game for my daughter who loves gymnastics. She has gotten very frustrated with this game and won't play it. So I picked it up and tried to do it and I was also disappointed. There is no explanation as to how to play it. Usually with games there is an instruction part. This one doesn't seem to have it, and if it does, we can't find it. The little book doesn't explain it either. When you are doing the routines, you have to build energy to do the flips, etc. It took time, but I figured out how to get some energy, but not a lot. There is no explanation anywhere that I can find that tells us how to build the energy. For the flips and tricks, there also really isn't any instruction on doing them, except some arrows that are pointed in certain directions to show you how to do certain tricks during practice stage. It is not a bad game, we have figured it out enough for my daughter to play with it for a little while. But it should have more tutorial involved than it does, so you can get the maximum playtime out of the game.

My four granddaughters (ages 7, 8, 9 & 10) are all gymnasts. We gave them Nintendo Gym Rockets for Christmas because we were all leaving Christmas Day for a trip to NC and we wanted a new Nintendo game for the long car trip. The girls loved the game and played it the whole time we were away.

I bought this for my daughter who is 8 and a gymnast to go along with her new DS. Not only does she love it but me and her older sister (16) play it too! I would recommend it for any girl even if she is not into gymnastics. You get trophies for skill and it's just a lot of fun.

I am an ex gymnast who misses the "glory days" of competing and flying through the air.. I am 33 years old and I love my nintendo ds lite.. I have a pink one and the first game I wanted was the gymnastics game. I did gymnastics for 15 years.. :) and this was just great. My mom even played with it - 60 years old.. and she enjoyed it. I do agree though that it is hard to understand without directions or actually more detailed directions. My 6 year old definitely couldn't figure it out. But for those 12 and above - old gymnasts, and even coaches - this is GREAT!

My daughter played this game Christmas day and a few times since. I bought Nintendogs and Petz Dogz Pack so that is where the majority of here efforts have been. She has noted that the stylus interaction with the game is a little inconsistent at times. For the most part, things seem to work. I've also tried to play it to help her get the right stylus motion to perform a trick. It can be a bit of a challenge.
I'd still buy the game again because the gameplay is still fun for my daughter. We're figuring more time with the game will help get past the nit picky stylus interaction.

A Fun Game...But Needs More Detailed Instructions,

Energ-G Gym Rockets is a fun game - when you figure out what to do. The instructions that come with the game are horrible. The little bit they do tell you isn't even worth reading. So basically, you have to figure most of it out on your own. That's why I gave this game only 3 stars. Other than the lack of detailed instructions, the game is enjoyable.
When you do figure out what to do, then it's fun. Trying to get the highest score possible on all the moves is a challenge. It also feels good to learn more and more complicated moves that lead to higher scores. To get the gymnast moving, you have to drag a straight line with the stylus. Sometimes you drag a straight line across. Other times you have to drag a straight line up. And when you do the uneven bars, the only way to recharge energy is by drawing a large circle after every move. To perform the moves, you have to draw lines with your stylus. The moves you can perform (the lines you can draw) appear on the top screen. You keep performing moves until your energy runs out.

Just a mom but this does not get played with much. Super Mario seems to be every kid's favorite and anything else is only a fad.

I really liked this game. I got it when i was 7 and didnt beat it until i was 8.its kinda tricky, for a long time i didnt get how how you could put in diagonal moves.Turns out turns out you have to drag up, down, right or left BEFORE you can drag diagonal. I if you want to earn tokens fast, i reccomend trapoline. this is a great game!
