Well, I wouldn't call it "energizing"....,

This review is from: Energized Hypnosis: A Non-Book for Self Change (Paperback)
I will be reviewing the book only here, since that is what is currently available through Amazon.
Personally I found it disappointing, but I'm sure others will find it very helpful. I've read many basic introduction to hypnosis and self-hypnosis books over the years, and this one certainly is the most unique among them all. It does an excellent job of explaining (in a non-bookish sort of way), why we continue to do the things we do, even when we don't want to do them anymore. It can serve as a kind of wake up call for those of us who are stuck in ruts of our own design. These are the qualities I enjoyed most about the book and can recommend it for. It compiles a large number of important concepts about self-development into a single comprehensive lesson. On the other hand... I certainly didn't feel entranced, hypnotized, or otherwise "sucked in" by the writing style. After reading the descriptions, I was expecting a much stronger hypnotic impact. Instead, I found it to be very much like a "normal" book - with information introduced in a direct manner, with the occasional attempt at "blowing your mind" with italicized suggestions, odd questions and unexpected statements. I give it points for originality, but if you're hoping this book will be like a session with Milton Erickson in print, save your money, it simply doesn't deliver on that level. Finally, out of roughly 120 pages, the first 110 of them are dedicated to explaining basic information about how we develop unconscious patterns and self-limiting beliefs. There is virutally NO ACTUAL INFORMATION ABOUT HYPNOSIS IN THIS BOOK. So if you're looking for an introduction to hypnosis, look elsewhere, this isn't it. Only in the final 10 pages does it finally get to the point and offer 4 unique methods for "undoing yourself" with "energized" hypnotic techniques. I'll say this, in keeping with the rest of the book, they're very interesting, and unique approaches to self-hypnosis. And once again, while I think some folks will find them absolutely brilliant and effective, I personally dismissed them as time consuming, requiring more effort than necessary, and worst of all, completely lacking any in-depth explaination of the How or Why of each technique. I personally felt the author displayed a small degree of arrogance in the assumption that people would just do what he says, because he says so, without offering any particular reasons or supporting logic behind them. I don't know about you, but when someone tells me to jump, I ask "WHY?" not "how high?". But of course, that's where the book ends and the CD's come in. Maybe they make it all come together like the other review suggests. Maybe when I finally listen to them, I will think it was all worthwhile and worth the $$$. Who knows? Anything's possible...

Instant Trance Removal (It's better than 5 stars.),

This review is from: Energized Hypnosis: A Non-Book for Self Change (Paperback)
And, chances are . . . you like your trance . . . .it
serves a purpose for you . . . . For one thing, you dont have to do, think, or know anything . . . . other than what's on T.V., or on sale at Wal-Mart. If you enjoy unawareness, the Non-Book and accompanying CD's will likely frighten, and offend you . . . I recommend this . . . often. I, personally enjoy awareness, and accomplishing . . . so I found Energized Hypsnosis fascinating . . . and whats more, it gave me very simple tools and explanations on HOW TO WAKE UP . . . . at whatever pace I am comfortable with . . . This book also contains a restatement of many of Hyatt's "Undoing Yourself" exercises from early works, however, Energized Hypnosis goes several steps beyond any previous Hyatt work in that it explains not just "HOW" to do a given exercise, but also "WHY" and even more, what to "EXPECT" or notice while doing the exercise. Very useful. I find that the CD#1 is an excellent primer to what the book, and CD#2 are trying to help you accomplish: your goals. Hypnosis of the Paternal/structural type is contrasted with Ericksonian hypnosis, and the interplay of these two types of hypnosis in daily life is explained in CD#1. Furthermore, these types of hypnosis are demonstrated on you, while you listen/read. In fact, I now realize that much of what Hyatt speaks, or writes is purposeful, and hypnotic. You may or may not notice yourself in agreement with this, but in the future, you might recall NOW, what I mean and AGREE with it. CD#2 contains many things, a song about undoing yourself . . . a complete, and very nicely organized Hypnosis session with Mr. Iwema, and more. Note: a personalized CD Hypnosis session if ordered from Mr. Iwema at his website (www.bestmindforward.com) may cost you almost 10X the cost of both CD's and the book. I've had Mr. Iwema compose CD hypnosis sessions for me in the past, and they assisted me in accomplishing specific goals. The book didn't disturb my trance as much as the CD's do . . .these CD's are truly stunning, and formative . . .the book is a discussion of techniques and theories that correlate directly with the CD's. In fact, after listening to the CD's, the book seems to weigh 10 kilograms more . . . alot of key points written in the book made no sense to me until I listened to CD#1. The Presentation of the 2 CD's and the Non-Book is, in my opinion, The best, most accesible explanation of how to become aware of this moment, and maintain that awareness. In summary: This is my Favourite Hyatt-ian work to date, it packs several significant, and exquisitely presented) raps to the skull so you can listen to the echoing of the inside of your cranium . . . The remainder of my review is in the form of an email to Dr.H: I very much enjoy the CD's of the Energized Hypnosis Packet. You use certain phrases commonly in your speech . . . i.e. "You lost, she won . . . drop it" (regarding my mother). I never undestood this before, but after listening to the CD . . . many of the things youve said in the past became clear . . . . Most fascinating is the "Bell" example you use in the CD: it is so superbly placed in context of what you are saying, that after listening to this CD, I instantly understood a hitherto perplexing statement: "You spend most of your life in a Hypnotic trance" In the past, I heard this, and agreed, but had no idea what to do with that data . .. it became an interesting tid bit and nothing more. But, as soon as I heard the bell . . . .I chuckled, as my awareness was ripped away from my constant daydreams and fantasies and focused instantly on the question of "what was that?" I was immediately transported to "NOW" Thanks Doc. I cant say enough good things about the work you and Calvin did on this project . . . Many ideas and philosophies that I consider to be quintessential "Hyatt-sims" are explained, I will play your CD for anyone I value so they may become aware of what it means to be unaware IF YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT FROM AMAZON YOU WILL ONLY GET THE BOOK!! THE CDS ARE AVAILABLE ONLY FROM THE PUBLISHERS WEBSITE.

This was a pretty decent book on NLP and trances. No where near as good as Undoing Yourself though. The tests and exercises are pretty good! Maybe the CD offers that something extra I am missing from this book.

a great but very different book!,
This review is from: Energized Hypnosis: A Non-Book for Self Change (Paperback)
I have not finished this book but I can say that if you do the techniques it does work! I have never encountered a book that totally shifts my consciousness besides Eric Pepins Handbook of the Navigator. This book still works differently than the Navigator. I mean I thought "yeah right sure i am so going to go into a trance" very skeptical about the claims it made. So I started the first chapter and there I was in a completely altered state of mind to the point of giggling my butt off! I think if you really want to see some self change this book should be a must to read. I was very impressed my the 1st review that was posted about this book and was one of the reason's I decided to purchase it. I find this book humorous in some areas and very informative. It helps me to get away also. ASAP i will be purchasing the cd's. I am sure I will be happy with that purchase also. Highly recommended for those that want change but you have to do the exercises.

Highly Effective, Highly Recommended,

This review is from: Energized Hypnosis: A Non-Book for Self Change (Paperback)
As a practicing psychotherapist, I can whole-heartedly recommend this non-book. It really delivers. The reviewer below might consider actually DOING the methods outlined in the non-book.
I also HIGHLY recommend going to the publisher's website and purchasing the two cd set that complements the non-book. Word of warning: the techniques only work if YOU work. Nothing is free and the fruit is equal to the effort.

This review is from: Energized Hypnosis: A Non-Book for Self Change (Paperback)
Deserving ongoing recommendation is ENERGIZED HYPNOSIS: A NON-BOOK FOR SELF CHANGE. It offers a different program for gaining personal power and enlightenment using techniques developed by the authors, offering an approach that energizes the body from self-suggestion and shows how to change habits through suggestion. New age and self-help/self-improvement collections will find this a powerful ongoing tool for change.
