4.0 out of 5 stars Good emergency lighting, March 31, 2010

This came in handy a few weeks ago with the Nor'easter that blew through the NY/NJ area. We lost power for 24 hours. As soon as the lights went out (at 5pm of course), the unit worked as advertised. We gave everyone a light to use. I used the flashlight unit on my rounds to check everything during the night.

These units use LEDs for light, which use much less battery power than LCD or incandescents, and if the rechargeable battery pack runs out, you can use regular batteries.

These are not meant to flood an area with light, just throw out enough to see in the dark safely. The battery life is good for an overnight use if you are worried about using candles.

A good thing to have on hand also is either an auto inverter or emergency battery with AC outlets so you can plug in small electronics to recharge when not in use. I had this setup and it worked well. And keep a stock of batteries handy just in case.

I purchased this from another website on sale for $25, so I give this a good rating for the price I got.

I am planning to get more of these if I see them on sale again.

Good emergency lighting product.

These are nice & handy. I have mine mounted to the wall and it provides a nice night-light (which can be turned off). I like that it uses LEDs and the unit can be mounted to a wall if desired. While it is nice for emergencies, it's also nice to be able to easily remove one (or more) of the four lighting units and use it where light is needed. I'd say the light each unit gives off is "moderate". One of the four units doubles as a flashlight.

When an out-of-state family member visited and saw it, they liked it and wanted one. I ordered one from Amazon to be shipped to their house back home.
