4.0 out of 5 stars Very good flashlight for boats and blackouts., March 15, 2008

This review is from: Energizer-Eveready 02062 TUF2D1EH HARD CASE 2D (Misc.)
I bought this flashlight because I already have the 4 D Cell version, and was a little disappointed when I compared it to my Maglite 2 D. In that the beam is fixed, and though it has a very nice spread, it isn't as bright as the Maglite. On the other hand the Maglite will not float, and it won't stand on it's end to light up a darkened room. I live in an area where blackouts are pretty common and I've already used this flashlight as a light source by standing it on its end and by doing so it was actually bright enough to light a 20'X24' room, well enough so we where able to carry on pretty well.

Honestly I think this would be a great flashlight to have in an Earth Quake kit, or to keep on a boat, since it does float, and will work while submerged to a degree.

For the home I have one of these and one of the 4 D Hardcase flashlights, a few Maglite flashlights and two 18 volt rechargeable flashlights with backup batteries around the house, and feel comfortable that in any type of black out or other disaster we'll have enough light to function night and day for at least a few days with out electricity. Which is a good idea for anyone living on the West Coast, or other Earth Quake prone area.
