I purchased three lights from Wal-Mart for cheaper than this one light.

In an emergency, a light like this worn around the neck, the light may help reassure a child, or allow you to keep track of them in the dark.

Maybe I'm being too suspicious, but this cool little device suddenly seemed like a battery selling scheme.

Bought two of these as stocking stuffers (a blue one and a green one). Batteries lasted nearly two weeks with regular use (4hrs/day I'd guess). My toddlers love them. Batteries are a bit tricky to change at first - it took me several minutes to figure out how to do it. Just unscrew the tiny screw and pull out everything that's inside with needlenose pliers. It takes 3 button (A76) batteries. Very easy once you've figured out how to do it. :) Three options for light: the glow stick is a flashlight on one end, then the glow stick on the other - the glow stick side will either remain a steady light or flash. Great for little kiddos to play with, and my toddlers quickly learned how to turn them on and off/choose lighting options. I'm happy with them!

I bought two of these, and I LOVE 'em. They were being sold as safety devices for children during Halloween. The attached lanyard lets you hang the light around your neck. There are three (3) light modes: [A] flashlight, [B] glowstick, and [C] flashing glowstick. I attached one to my backpack and have started using it during the dark season. I live in a big city, and during the Winter months I am, by necessity, out more when it's dark. Automobiles cannot see pedestrians in any kind of dark clothing, especially when the weather is at all bad. Having this glowstick attached to my person when I'm crossing intersections in the dark is a great safety feature. And as I'm getting older, I am realizing that older adults need these sorts of safety devices too (not just children) -- so they can be seen at night. Great also for bicyclists. GREAT TOOL FOR WALKERS!!!

This is an excellent product to have in the car in case of an emergency. It is a combination flashlight/glow stick that is powered by three A76, 1.5 volt, button type batteries. The light is controlled by a rubber covered pushbutton switch in the handle. One push turns on the flashlight. A second push turns off the flashlight, and turns on the glow stick. A third push, causes the glow stick to blink, and a fourth turns it off. You probably wouldn't want to depend on this as your primary flashlight, but the lamp has a very wide beamspread, and the light output is more than adequate to find something inside a darkened vehicle.

The glow stick was the main feature I was interested in, and this product functions pretty well. It is available in three colors, red, blue, and green. I tested each of the colors in the store, and went with the green, since it looked the most intense. While certainly not as bright as a roadway flare, the glow stick is quite visible in the dark, and will last many times longer than an emergency road flare. The flashing mode function is useful as a signal, and there is a 14 inch cord, which makes the light convenient to wear around the neck. The cord can easily be tied, to shorten the length for a small child. In an emergency, a light like this worn around the neck, the light may help reassure a child, or allow you to keep track of them in the dark.

Manufactured in China, this dual purpose device is handy to have in an emergency. It seems quite sturdy, and the opaque plastic section is quite hard. I wouldn't be surprised, if it could survive being run over by a vehicle.

I got this flashlight for my daughter who both loves star wars (light saber!) and flashlights. She was pretty excited the first night she had it, and devastated the next when it wouldn't start. I'm sure she probably left it on part of all of the night, so it wasn't a shock that the batteries were drained. However, the batteries are A76, which cost $3 a piece. That means, this $4 flashlight now costs $9 to keep operating, and if I continue to buy replacement batteries for my daughter, will bankrupt me.

I like the design, the concept, and the function of the light. But choosing a smaller, high cost battery to power it with? When I was buying replacements, I pulled the first battery off the shelf, looked at the price, and was instantly reminded of that cheap ink-jet printer that suddenly tripled in price when I had to buy more ink for it. Maybe I'm being too suspicious, but this cool little device suddenly seemed like a battery selling scheme. Why couldn't it have been designed around AAA batteries instead of the tiny A76 cells?

Overall, this is not a flashlight for a child. Maybe it should be saved for more mature and cautious users like the other reviewers must be. Sadly, I'm going to try and figure out how to dispose of it because I'm not spending $9 to replace the batteries.

Bought these for my grandchildren, ages 3 and 18 months. They take them to bed when they spend the night with us. It gives them a little light in bed so they're not afraid and entertains them for a few minutes before they fall asleep. I removed the "leashes".The 3 year old can turn it on and off easily. The 18 month old can't, (I'm sure there's a warning somewhere saying they're not for children) but there are no small parts to worry about.
