Product Description

Energizer 2-LED 360 Cap light is a product of much research development. Features requested by consumers include separate switches for accessing the different colored lights which prevents having to scroll through all the modes to get to a specific color. This model also includes larger switches for easy operation, even with gloves on. Because of it's compact size, this bright light is also lightweight, durable and easy to pack. Packed with 1 AA Energizer Max Alkaline battery. The structure was created with materials other than aluminum that doesn't get too hot or cold to the touch or conducts electricity, making this a great light for outdoor use year round.

Customer Reviews

When the adjustment screw is tightened down it stays in the swivel.

The metal clip on both lights is excellent, a nice tight clasp to the bill of the cap, the light stays in position.

Tightening the tension screw helps, but it still comes off with just a slight bump.

I take my French Brittany Spaniel on 4 walks a day, every day, with the last walk always in the dark. I prefer a hands free light as he is a handful. I've used the head band lights popular with hikers but feel more comfortable with a ball cap on. The CR battery cap lights are adequate and very cheap at $5 to $6, but the batteries wear fast and cost more than the light.

I purchased this and the Energizer 5-Led cap light that requires 2 AAA batteries and cost me $15.80, at the same time. The metal clip on both lights is excellent, a nice tight clasp to the bill of the cap, the light stays in position. In side-by-side test this is the superior light. The 5-Led light has a hallo effect that actually causes items not to be in sharp focus. The Energizer 360-degree functions like a sharp focus flashlight and I can easily see 30 feet in front of me. Also, the Energizer 360 with 1 AA battery is lighter than the 2 AAA battery 5-LED light. The Energizer 360 is my choice.

Light is very small and but the beam is quite powerful. It has 2 levels of power plus a red led that is also good, though less powerful. The swivel and clip make it very handy.

I used this to walk the dogs every morning for the last month. I walk at 0500 (5AM) or earlier every morning in an area with no street lights. It's a great little light. The White beam is excellent compared to the many other multi-LED cap lights I have used in the past. I can make out details on objects at 25+ yards and it will illuminate reflective signs at 100+ yards. Lights up reflective trail markers very nicely at great distance for you hunters. This is a very effective light because it has one high energy LED with a prism focus lens rather than 3 or more lower power LEDs. Much more focused and powerful beam.

I'll address the issues I read from other critiques:

Ball and Socket pivot. This seems to be the primary complaint. When opened the base and light easily separate. I tightened the knurled nut which has a slot on the end for a screw driver. I must have found the "sweet spot" because I am able to move the light around on the base without it separating and it maintains position very well; no flopping around. This is nice because I can adjust the light as I want and not have to wear my hat cockeyed to get the light to shine where I want it.

Red light: The red light is a separate lower power LED. It is there to use reading a map or directions so you don't get reflection off the paper and hurt your eyes as you would with white light. It is not there to light up the trail. Red light is not useful for this even with a high powered flashlight let alone in a low power hat lamp. If you don't like whitelight you should go with a green lens light. Green light will preserve your night vision and provide much better illumination than a red light for trails. Red light does not unless you get a much more powerful flashlight.

***UPDATE: I originally gave this five stars, but after it broke I downgraded to two stars.***
PROS:
Very powerful, lighter than the 5 LED light, and the clip is super tight, attaching to the lid of the hat.
CONS:
The ball joint is simply a poor design that works for a while, but as the ball wears down, the light keeps on detaching. So it is a hat light that no longer attaches to the hat. Nice LED technology, but the design is a THUMBS DOWN!

I bought this 360 hat light after my red energizer 5 LED hat light landed in the washing machine. This light, although I was put off by it's fragile looks, is superior. It has a lot of power and the clip is MUCH stronger than other hat lights, to the extent that it is difficult to attach, and therefore, difficult to fall off.

One problem with the energizer 5 LED light was that, although it was powerful, it had the tendency to weigh down the hat. This light won't, for two reasons. First, it is lighter because it has only one AA battery as opposed to two. But the second reason is that there is a little secret to its use.

Instead of attaching the clip to the tip of the hat, attach it to the side of the bill of the hat, about an inch in front of the temple. By attaching the light closer to the head, your hat handles the weight a lot better. Also if you are a biker you can then turn the light backwards (hence the name, 360).

I bought this Oct 2011 for a camping trip up the mountains, I can't begin to say enough great things about it.

I used it along the extremely dark paths to the bathrooms (johnny on the spots) and the white light was very bright for lighting up the paths as was the red light for "stealth" and fun mode ..... lol. It would also be great for flashlight tag.

I still use it to this day, the battery was a little tough to change at first (until I got the hang of it).

Now and again the light body seems to slip out of the little swivel thingie, but I haven't found it to be a "real" problem.

It's a fantastic little light and serves it's purpose and hasn't let me down.

If need should arise I would purchase again without hesitation.
