While its operation isn't complicated, it does have some issues. It appears solid, a little lighter than I expected but it is just a plug with an iPhone and USB port and three three prong surge protected (or so it says--612 joules limit) outlets. Not very complicated. The male plug on the back rotates thru 180 degrees --the unit works one way horizontally (the way you would use it if using the iPhone charging dock) or will work either direction vertically (USB at top or bottom). The only drawback I have found is that, to use the iPhone dock, your outlets on the wall MUST have the third prong (grounding prong) ON THE BOTTOM. My home is a little more than forty years old and most of my outlets are upside down for this orientation. Those outlets that have been replaced over the years are installed with this convention. This limits the flexibility for me but probably would not be a major issue for others, particularly if you live in newer construction. There are some workarounds anyway.
The outlets work. What else do you say about them? They are adequately sized -- could be tight if you have larger plugs. Three of the little iPad "mini-bricks" chargers would be a very tight fit side by side.
The night light is useful and has an on/off switch on it in case you find you don't want the light.
Included with the iPhone dock are two extra inserts which are variously sized. There is no reference to them in the extremely minimalist directions but they snap out -- pop up the front edge and lift out.Read more ›

I uploaded a very short video that shows nightlight and volt and amp of USB slot of Energizer iSurge outlets.
- Three outlets 120V
- USB slot
- surge protector
- swivel plug
- 30pin adapter for iphone and ipod
- Those outlets are really close to each other
- USB slot is only about 1.0A
- swivel plug doesn't rotate 360 degree
- 30pin adapter only for older generations of iphone and ipod.
I like this Energizer Charging Station iSurge, because it has 3 outlets and USB slot... plus it is a surge protector with nightlight and 30pin adapter for iphone and ipod. I use it for vacation or for work. Sometimes I use its USB slot to charge my droid phone or dell venue 7 tablet when I forgot the USB adapters. Since its USB slot only have 1.0A output, it charges my tablet really slow... It takes about 4-6 hours to be fully charged, if I'm actively using my tablet while charging. Its USB slot works great for USB-powered lamp or fan..... works for me.
Those 3 outlets are so close to each other that some of my adapters may take up space and block other outlet(s). Its wall plug's swiveling capability is limited to 180 degree. so when I encounter a wall outlet upside-down, 30pin adapter is facing to the right and my ipod may fall off if I tried to charge it.
Even though there are some cons, Energizer Charging Station iSurge works fine for me.
I bought this product at regular price and I wrote my honest review at my own will and free time.

Save your money. The slot at the top for an iPhone only works if the phone is not in a case. The plug on the back doesn't fold flat for packing so it takes a lot of room to pack. Read morePublished on December 15, 2011 by Michael B. Menaker
