5.0 out of 5 stars The Haggadah We Are Still Reading AFTER Passover, April 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Energizing Haggadah for Children (Paperback)
Adult haggadahs are long and boring. Many "family" haggadahs have fun songs but are meant for the pre-school set. This is the first haggadah that has kept my entire family's interest even AFTER the last bit of matzah has been consumed!

The Energizing Haggadah for Children has fabulous illustrations plus a lot of information. Difficult subjects are broached through the use of cartoon characters. While we talk about oppression in Egypt at the Seder, I never imagined discussing the Nazi's, the Spanish inquisition, Cossacks and pogroms with my elementary-school-aged children. This book has opened up my children's minds and made a segway for me into important -- though sometimes tragic and sad -- subjects of Jewish history. The information is presented in clear, simple, and understandable language.

Fun, detailed illustrations appear throughout this haggadah. Readers get to search the elaborate cartoons to locate little helmets, matzahs, and "Uh Oh"s which appear inside word balloons.

I am writing this review after Pasover, and my children are still fighting over the book. While aimed at slightly older children, my five-year-old finds the pictures fascinating, my seven-year-old loves the illustrations AND also reads the book for the information.

This year we own one copy of this special book. Next year we plan to buy more to give to friends and relatives.
