I felt this book was a little bit of a sales pitch for powerbar products. There's some good information in it, but it is biased toward supplements

I love this book. It touches on the "popular" nutrition and hydration advice most of us have heard, then provides us with the correct nutrition and hydration information based on current research. But most important, it's easy to read and easy to follow. This book provides you with real information on protein, fat and carbs, as well as specific menu's and recipes, information on sports drinks and energy bars, and a discussion on which supplements are worth the investment vs. just hype. This takes the guess work out of how to properly feed your body for ultimate performance. Whether you are a person who exercises just to stay in shape, or an elite triathlete, you should own this book. This is the best practical guide to sports nutrition I have read. I am going to give it as a gift to my athlete friends. This book is great.

Great book. Super easy to read and full of great information. This is full of sound science and correct nutrition advice without promoting any fad diets. As a coach for international level athletes I recommend this book to all clients.

This is not one of those shiny covered books with big promises and confusing data. Nor do you have to eliminate your favorite snacks or an entire food group. It's a book of guidelines and methodologies supported by research and written by qualified specialists in sports nutrition. And it's an interesting read. Thanks for sharing with us you smart ladies.

If you are in good shape or just working to get there diet is a key part of any successful program. This book is chockful of not just tips but the basis for a sound nutritional program. Very helpful.

This is an advertising book selling Powerbar brand food bars! They are lauded in every chapter, one of the authors works for that company, and this not at all an "educational book". The authors must have said "Let's see how many ways we can present common facts about food (facts which most people already know, by the way), and then turn the conversation around to the food bar we want to get them to buy". This book should not be sold, it should have "advertising" in bold font on the cover and be given away free, because it is trying to sell you something!

Just as the subtitle suggests - this book really is a comprehensive guide to properly fueling training and competition! It lays out the basics of eating well and brings it to life with tips from professional athletes, an easy to follow meal plan, recipes and shopping lists. It helps to know that the authors are not only registered dietitians but serious athletes that have had to figure out how to fuel their own training. This book is super helpful for me as a dietitian working with groups and fielding sports nutrition questions and personally as a casual athlete. I can't wait to try out some of the recipes. Buy it!

I'm training for my first Ironman and this book is perfect. It's easy-to-read and full of information. I need to know what to eat before, during and after I workout and it spells it out for me. I also like the meal ideas and recipes. Overall, this book gives you exactly what you need to know how to eat well, lose weight and eat for exercise.
