Very good price- good quality product- good packaging= NO damage -- shipment arrived on time-UPS delivered the product into the garage (109 pounds). I connected the speakers, they sound like $1200 speakers each but cost only $299 each delivered ---- I could not be more pleased with the COSt and with the performance. The product exceeds my expectations in every way. These Energy V6.2 speakers look really good. The rosenut finish is high quality. I use them mostly for music of all types. I would rate the high range and mid range frequencies as very clear, clean and well balanced. The lows are clear and tight, not boomy.
Have played them for a week and they are sounding better and better. The room they are in is 20' x 40' with 10 foot ceilings - no problem - music fills the room. The CD player is a Sony XA7ES. Preamp is McIntosh C42. Two amps one for each speaker in bridged mode are McIntosh 275 tube amps pushing 150 watts to each speaker.
Each of the two woofers has a high quality rear port. I like to understand how each of the components in the system works. Here is what I have figured out on these speakers. Both woofers are pumping at frequencies from 33hz to 700 hz. The 33hz low end is the manufacturers speclow end. However, in my opinion these 6.5 inch woofers are not the optimal low end drivers between 33hz and 50 hz. I do believe there is some audio output at the sub35 hz level, but the volume is quite low. In my opinion these speakers operate flawlessly down to about 50 hz, then drop off in volume from there down to 33 HZ. I played Emerson Lake and Palmers "Lucky Man" and ALL the notes on that welll recorded music piece sounded clear and great. These speakers would rival any speakers even double the retail price of $1200 dollars each for the playing of that tune. Then, I played Emerson Lake and Palmers "Tank". This piece is LOADED with low end drums. On this classic "pounder" piece, the speakers fell well short-- I mean WAY WAY short of adequate performance. However I have played this piece for decades and know that to hear it as it should be heard it would rattle not only the windows but would also shake the walls. Proper playing of Tank requires not just any subwoofer, but a very high powered, high quality subwoofer, which I do not have at this time. In my opinion, any speaker regardless of price that loses volume below 50hz cannot play TANK(and there are many very high cost systems out there that do not do well under 50 hz). In my view the 6.2's are designed to mate with a quality subwoofer like many high end speakers are.
Both 6.2 woofers are pumping up to a frequency of 700 hz at which point, one of the woofers is crossover dropped off and the other one handles the midrange up to 1900 hz. Above 1900 hz crossover, the tweeter takes over. This a 2.5 way speaker. This makes sense as the low end takes more power hence two drivers - where one of the high quality drivers is good between 700hz and 1900hz and proabably preferred to provide a flat db response curve throughou the range. My guess is the response curve for these speakers is pretty flat from 50 to 25K herz. Dropping off below 50 hz.
I am very please with these speakers and, in my opinion, I would need to buy Salk H3's ( which I cannot afford) to improve on these. I do plan to add a subwoofer to the set up soon.-- May even build my own subwoofer to get the driver that I want- with a dedicated Amp. ... Yes I am 5 star happy with these Veritas 6.2 speakers. Really Good Value.
I bought these speakers for the $299.00 apiece clearance price from Vann's, they listed for $1,100.00 each, and I am very happy. I use these speakers for music listening and they sound great, especially at this price. The speakers have very good highs and good midrange. the bass is a little light but I am using a Polk PSW505 to make up for the lower end. The imaging is very good and these speakers are very efficient. The Rosenut finish is beautiful and the speakers go very well with the furniture in my living room. I am currently using a Harman/Kardon hk460i 2- channel receiver from the early 1980s to drive these speakers. The receiver only has 30 watts per channel and I have plenty of sound with the volume set at 1/3rd of the receiver's capability. I have also had them connected to a Onkyo TX-8511 100 watt per channel receiver and it sounded great with these speakers but I felt the H/K had more definition of tone, especially in the lower end. I also looked at JBL L880s, Klipsch RF-52s, Klipsch RF-82s, Energy CF-50s, Energy CF-70s, and Polk Monitor 70s before making this purchase. I was able to listen to everything but the JBL L880s. I really liked both Energy models that I heard and when I called Vanns the representative told me that in his opinion these speakers sounded better than the Energy CF-70s, which were the ones that I had planned on purchasing. I was also interested in the Veritas V-6.3s but they were about $1,300.00 more and I did not feel that a 3-way speaker would produce $1,300.00 worth of greater sound than these, so I made a decision and definitely do not regret it. I also purchased the Veritas V- 5.2 center channel using my Discover cash back bonus for a total of $70.00 so I could use these for a home theater upgrade in the future if I choose to do so. This has proven to be one of the best deals that I have gotten in a long time.
These speakers are awesome! Great lows and mids, but could use a little more bass. I am pushing them with an HK 3490 and paired them with a PSW310W Infinity sub. The sound is exceptionally clean. The wood finish on these speakers is top notch and will surely be an attention grabber in your room. At $299 EA, I don't think I could have found a better value.
These speakers were everything and more than advertised. The sound reproduction is clear and true, no matter what volume level you play them at. The cabinetry is beautiful, and the speakers are second to none. The bass is definitely deep enough and treble is crisp and clean. Would definitely recommend the speakers for anyone wanting great sound quality for the price.
I purchased one of these on that other site, but I just had to review it.
I currently have this single tower paired up with a set of Energy RC bookshelf speakers. All connected to a Yamaha 400 series receiver. I must say, there is absolutely no better speaker within this price range and you will be hard pressed to find anything that can match the sound quality even if you look at speakers costing twice this price. Energy simply makes outstanding speakers. The fit and finish is elegant and perfect. The sound stage is amazing, you might need a small sub to fill in the low end bass but I personally do not believe that it is completely necessary as this tower does a find job at punching out some solid bass. The mid range and highs are crisp and detailed yet retain a nice warmth. I can listed to these for hours on end and never get tired of what I am hearing.
