Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Passive Infrared(PIR) sensors detect occupancy by sensing the difference between heat emitted from the human body in motion and the background space. In order to provide adequate coverage with-in a space, the sensors utilize a unique Fresnel lens which divides the coverage area into zones, thus enhancing the detection of small movement. Once an individual enters a space being monitored, the sensor responds to a change in the infrared background by turning the lights ON automatically. Once the individual leaves and the space is unoccupied for a selected period of time, the lights are turned Off automatically. Incandescent: 500-Watt at 120-Volt AC - Fluorescent: 500-Volt Amp at 120-Volt AC - Motor: 1/8HP at 120-Volt AC - Coverage: 150 Degree, 450 Square Feet , Decorator wall plate included.

Product Description

Turn lights on and off with the Enerlites WOS15 WH Passive Infrared Wall Switch Occupancy Sensor. When an individual enters the room, the sensor automatically turns the lights on. When there is no more movement in the room and a set amount of time passes,

Works As Described February 19, 2011
By SH
Color Name:Ivory|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have to say I've installed many dimmers, switches, fan controls, and timers. This one was a little confusing at first due to the extra wire. The way to install it is to find the "white" wireset that should be bundled in your gangbox and attach the white wire to that. Then the black wire and red wire go to the two wires that previously went to your wall switch. The green goes to ground, of course.

Once past that, I fiddled a bit with the time, trying to get the light to stay on only 1 minute as I have this in a laundry room between house and garage. I mostly wanted it so a light will come on when I open the door to go inside. The settings are controlled by small rotary dials. So it's hard to be exact. But it's easy to get it good enough.

There's a knob to have it also check ambient light before turning on. If enough light is present, it won't turn on. It comes pre-set so that lighting is ignored and it always comes on.

I couldn't find one of these locally in almond. I bought this product in ivory, which is lighter than the wall plate, but not as white as the white version. Lowes has wall plates similar in color to this unit.

I have it on a circuit with one CFL bulb and it works fine with it. If you read the reviews, other brands seem to have a problem with CFL's.

Works great August 17, 2011
By Tortuga
Color Name:White|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have a bunch of the name brand at twice the price all over my house and purchased one of these to compare. I actually like it better and highly recommend.

Pros:
-Works fine with compact fluorescent bulbs
-Relay is quieter than the name brand sensor switches
-Adjustable range and ambient light cutoff
-Infinitely adjustable time delay from 15 seconds on up
-I like the ON/OFF/AUTO switch setup
-Good price

Cons:
-Doesn't have adjustable blinders for width of sensing area, but I hadn't found these did much on the other brand.
-Uses both ground and white wires for hookup. Not an issue if you have modern wiring, but could be if your home is old.

Bought to replace erratic WOSS15-I. Works better and has on AND Off instead of Off only to go with Automatic. I wish I had seen this one first. Works fine with CFLs
