I gave it a 5 out of 5 stars because of the style and the reliability that this Enermax heat sink has to offer. Having read some reviews around the net, I chose this purely based on aesthetics compared to, let's say, a Hyper 212 EVO. Matching perfectly with my case along with the white LED's that emit very brightly within my dark case, highlighting edges and shadows, which in my opinion makes it look cooler than what it was if you wanted to show off to your friends.

Currently, I am running an Intel I5-3570k processor on an ASRock Pro 3 MoBo at 4.2GHz. This MoBo however gives you less of an option to tweak your desired voltage specifically (or maybe I'm just inexperienced enough with the ASRock BIOS), so currently it runs in between 1.1V to 1.3V respectively. On idle, the temps don't go above 30C keeping it to about 26C-28C from what my CPUID has told me. On my stress tests, the highest voltage at 1.3V got me about 68C-72C. Respectable in my opinion. Oh, my thermal paste of choice was Arctic Silver, just one dab on the center of the CPU.

The fan that comes with the heat sink has three settings where you can switch from quiet/normal/overclock which I thought was a nice added touch. Quiet is still audible, but barely, though normal can get quite loud as well for the overclock sounding like a typhoon within my case. It can still be set automatically if you decide to just leave it on overclock through the BIOS depending on what temps you want to raise your RPMs at.

As for the 'thermal white paint' or whatever Enermax is calling it to dissipate heat more effectively. Ah, the 'TCC' (Thermal Conductive Coating). I didn't really notice any differences on that part compared to the 212 EVO. Again, I love the look of this heat sink, so I bought it for the aesthetics.

Make sure you have room in your case, this thing is huge! Mounting is easy and rock solid, adapters for multiple socket types. LED fan very bright and almost hypnotic!

Edit: I will be returning mines back to Amazon. I don't know how the other people set up their heatsink and still get like 50*C with a 4.0GHz+ overclock. I have a i7 2700k and even just overclocking to a modest 3.8GHz will bring me up to 75*C. Now while 75*C is not dangerously high, I still expect it to do better. I mean my old CoolerMaster 212 Evo+ was able to cool it ton 60*C at that speed.

I know my ambient temperature matters which is why I did all of my stress testing at night time where the ambient is a constant 75*F.

Anyway, I'm returning since I am disappointed in it. Don't buy it. Buy a Cooler Master 212 Evo or stick with what you have and save up for a liquid cooling system or a Noctua kit (Never had one but I heard good things).

First off, this is big, not so wide as it is tall... so make sure your case can fit the height (160mm). The look right out of the box is great.. not your typical silver, blah looking cooler. Its bright white with a white fan (and even the LED's are white!) So this is perfect if you are looking for an air cooler to use on a white styled build. Install wasn't too bad either. I installed in on the motherboard before installing into the case. I could be done in case as well because it is not so heavy that you cant hold it and get the nuts on, I just had the MB out already. Comes with brackets for most set ups and took about 15 minutes to put in and make sure it was on right. (I didnt hurry). The fan can easily be moved or removed for cleaning too.

Performance wise, it dropped my idle temp about 8 degrees and about 15 under load. I probably could get that down more with a better paste application (I think i used a bit much). Overall, this is a great choice for your next build.

I have an AMD FX-8320. Not overclocked.

AMD Stock cooler @ idle: 40C ; gaming: 55C; *Fan speed during gaming is at 5000RPM* extremely loud!

Enermax ETS-T40-W Cooler @ idle: 24C; gaming: 40C *Fan speed during gaming is only at 1000RPM* big difference!

The room temp in my house is always 75F (~24C).
I am very impressed. I use the silent mode (800-1500RPM) and it is pretty silent. A+ product. LEDs are cool too.

I just built my personal computer in an Antec 1200 v3 case with a i7-4770K haswell processor plugged into a Asus saberthooth z87 motherboard and the beauty keeps her running cool. Did the stress test for 15min using )CCT4.4.0 and she didn't stutter or freeze.

This air cooler has lowered my CPU temp by 15C idle and 35C under full load. No longer do I have to worry about CPU intensive games overheating my processor. Well worth the $40 price tag.
It came with one fan, and I purchased another ($17) to set up cooler in push/pull configuration.
Only con is that it takes up one DIMM slot, but I knew that going into the purchase, so no big deal. My high profile Corsair Vengeance only overlaps the fan by 1/4" so there is minimal interference with airflow.
I can not hear the fans when idle/surfing the web, and the are barely audible when gaming.
