My wife and I had twins that were born 5 weeks early. They've been on this product since birth and have both grown really well in the last 5 months. My only complaint is the insane price tag of this formula. Individual cans at the grocery store are over $16 and you can't find a larger quantity beyond the standard 12oz pack. I wish Enfamil would offer this at Costco or something in larger quantities like they do for all of their other formulas.

Other than the price, this is a great product and has been so beneficial for our children's growth and development.

I highly recommend the regular Enfamil brand formula. My preemie thrived on it, even as she got off to a rough start with feedings. But this new version seems like more marketing wizardry than scientific innovation. The ingredient list is not substantively different from regular Enfamil, but the price is a stupendous increase. That strikes me as very disappointing and fishy.

Hi Katie- I'm delighted that you chose Enfamil for your preemie baby! I wanted to ease your mind regarding our EnfaCare. The ingredients will be similar to those of Enfamil PREMIUM Infant, as this is still a milk-based, routine infant formula. The primary difference between EnfaCare and Enfamil Infant, is that EnfaCare is 22 calories per fl oz, rather than 20 calories. I hope that this helps, and if you have any additional questions please feel free to contact us at 1-800-222-9123. Thank you for providing your feedback!

This formula has helped us immensely! My 7-week old infant has had trouble gaining weight (she was born 4 weeks early) and after trying breast milk, fortified breast milk, and formula, we finally tried Enfacare. And she gained weight! She seems to like it and I'm so happy that she is putting on weight. She still has some gas, spit up, and the occasional throw-up, but what baby doesn't? I would highly recommend this product, especially for a premature baby or a baby who isn't gaining weight well.

Enfamil EnfaCare Infant (ages 0-12 months) is characterized by milk, whey proteins, more corn syrup, less lactose, DHA, choline, vitamins, and minerals.

The sugar in milk is non-sweet lactose (disaccharide) not absorbed into the bloodstream already in the mouth, as sweet glucose (monosaccharide), which thus is not a healthy substitute for lactose. Unfortunately, most of milk's lactose is substituted for corn (glucose) syrup solids in EnfaCare and not for a polysaccharide, e.g. maltodextrin. Corn syrup (solids) contains glucose and - like high fructose corn syrup - may contain fructose, which presence (sweetness) can be masked by adding other sugars. Scientists say high fructose corn syrup is addictive as cocaine. So are corn syrup solids with fructose, which content is not provided on the label. Also, high intake of dietary fructose may lead to liver damage from bacteria due to their movement from gut into the blood stream and liver.

So, would you like to start your child's addiction to sweet taste in mouth, obesity, and exposure to a potential liver disease (NAFLD) when he/she is an infant, wait for later, or maybe not to accustom the child to corn syrup at all in order to avoid the fructose desire/addiction, as concentrated fructose is not common in nature, humans were not exposed to its consumption, and thus are vulnerable even those who are not obese yet?! A benefit for prematurity does not excuse beginning addition.

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) can be produced in the body from vegetable oils and thus is not need to be supplemented with them. A study found that preterm infants fed DHA had better developmental outcomes, but not the full-term or term infants (1-12 mo) who develop normally.

My twin daughters who were born premature have been on Enfacare since birth, and it has helped them to gain weight at a nice rate. They both seem to enjoy it and have had no negative reactions. While more expensive than other formula, I believe the health benefits to be worth it.

Firstly, my daughter was born at 35 weeks and she weighed 5lbs and 1oz. I breastfed her for the first 2 months and then had a problem with my milk supply. I told a friend I needed formula and they brought mw the regular one, and so we went with it. Then the week after my mother found the Enfamil enfaCare formula and grabbed it because it stated for preemie babies. So we started using it and my daughter turned 1 on July 9th she used the Enfacare up to 12 months. I'm not really sure if it made a difference in the weight she would have gained on preemie formula vs. regular though. I can say that she is in the 20th percentile for her age now. So that's not really on point with the on time born baby, but it's good for a preemie baby. Overall I feel the formula did nourish correctly, and did what every formula is suppose to. That is why I give it 5/5 stars, but it also could be questioned whether her being breastfed made a difference as well. Breastfed babies are more plump and though she is 12 months and 18lbs and 2 oz. She looks plump or chubby. It all comes down to your decision though as I and many have said I can't say if the formula made a difference.

When our granddaughter was born at 12 weeks early, we knew she would be on so-called 'premie' formula for quite a while. The hospital used the other major brand, but it gave the poor child so much gas, that I suggested this brand (as both of my kids had been raised on it also). The doctors agreed to the switch and now she is a happy, smiling baby. Since she started life at just 3.8 pounds, the fact that she is now over 13 (at two months corrected age), I'd say she is doing very well on this formula.
