5.0 out of 5 stars Great formula...ok price
Considering anyone can get the larger 38oz container for $25.00 at Costco, this is really not a great deal. Bring it down to $15.50 like the Similac equivilent and I will buy a case!

3.0 out of 5 stars Generic is just as good
My son is primarly breastfed but gets formula at daycare, and he tolerates the generic formula by Wyeth just as good or better as the Enfamil. I'm not going to fork over the extra $$ for name brand. As a side note, the lipils that formula companies are starting to add have been know to cause gassiness and stomach upset in some babies. The benefits are minimal if any,...

I am a RN and mom of 4. I bottle fed all 4 of my children. I just have to respond in total support of the mom who wrote do not harrass the bottle feeding moms! GOOD FOR YOU! I did a study in nursing school,,a comparison of formula vs breast feeding...the ONLY difference after all research is mainly the initial immunity from breast milk. BUT ley me say this ..my first child has cystic fibrosis and bottle fed...never had a sniffle until age 2..and basically not one after that...and my others are extremely healthy. All 4 of my kids are very bright...test in the top 1% of their classes, (my oldest is attending a very competitive prep school for high school), they are happy, into sports activities etc....MAYBE it had something to do with that formula I gave them LOL! But seriously Enfamil is a great product and so is Similac. I hope even one mom reads this that has been made to feel guilty about not breastfeeding..if it makes them feel better...my purpose for writing this email was a positive one. Good luck to all of you new moms!!

5.0 out of 5 stars My baby boy loves Enfamil more than my breast milk, September 21, 2004

This review is from: Enfamil Lipil Milk-Based Formula With Iron, Powder 25.7 oz (Health and Beauty)
I have not tried other formula like Similac, GoodStart etc, but since Enfamil found this 'Lipil" first, I simply trust the name.

I compared the labels of these 3 leading brands and found that they are about the same. While Enfamil offers a little bit more nutrition/Lipil than Similac, GoodStart takes an extra step offering something called 'Comfort Protein'. As long as both you and your baby are comfortable, there is no 'wrong choice.' (Hey, here is America. Low quality formula does not exist. :)

Anyway, I do breastfeed my baby and I have to agree that breast milk is the best food you can offer to your baby. (At least, it's good for the mom and it's FREE.) Yet, it takes lots of work, both mentally and physically (you think waking up at 2 or 3am every night for several months is an easy thing?!) When I am not that tough, I give my boy a bottle.

He likes! He's so excited and satisfied when he gets Enfamil.

I guess it has better taste than breast milk. :) I choose the concentrated one, but a nurse said it's same as powder, same content.

Last, I want to say, wether you are bottle feeding or breastfeeding, if you are reading these reviews, I am sure you are a good mom! Score for you!

p.s. I couldn't breastfeed my kid at the first 2 weeks. I tried not to feel bad and respected the fact that I couldn't. I am very blessed that I got milk later. So, I am reasonably neutral. :))

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this formula, June 21, 2004

If anyone out there is wondering what formula to choose, Enfamil Lipil is the way to go. I started using this for my daughter after I tried Similac Advanced for 2 weeks. There's quite a difference.

Similac is not as fine of a powder as Enfamil. It requires a LOT more shaking to dissolve, which means more bubbles, which means a cranky baby after each feeding. I still add gas drops to the Enfamil, but it's not as bad. She also isn't as fussy, or gassy, and hasn't spit up in quite a while - which she did on Similac.

As another reviewer said, the coupons are better, too. I'm always getting coupons in the mail from Enfamil - usually $2-3 each, and at least 4 per mailing. Similac has only sent me a few, and they're for $1 each. No big savings there. Of course, you can't use coupons at Amazon, but it's still a difference in the stores.

Also - Enfamil claims to be closer to the levels of DHA/ARA in breastmilk in their formula. To be honest with you, I compared both labels, and there's not too much of a difference in their nutrients. I couldn't really tell you what's healthier - they all claim to be the best. But Enfamil is still a great formula.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enfamil--the next best thing, June 14, 2004
This review is from: Enfamil Lipil Milk-Based Formula With Iron, Powder 25.7 oz (Health and Beauty)
I am like many of the moms who tried to breastfeed and couldn't. In my opinion, Enfamil is the next best thing. It contains DHA and ARA just like in breast milk. I don't think that people should write reviews on products they have never even tried--especially when they include "facts" like "babies die twice as fast on formula". Yes, it is true that breast milk is best. We all know that, but for some of us it is not possible and it is very upsetting when we are forced to quit. I planned on breastfeeding exclusively, I went to all the classes, read all the books, saw the lactation consultants before and after my son was born. In the six weeks that I attempted to breastfeed, I suffered with mastitis three times. The only thing that made me feel better about my choice to switch to formula was that Enfamil has many of the same components as breast milk. My son is thriving on Enfamil Lipil. He is almost ten weeks old now and is happy and healthy. Enfamil is definately worth the extra cost!!

This is obviously a great product needs no commentary but

the current price at which Amazon offers it, is note worthy.

I have checked the price of this product at 10-12 stores, including wholesaler Costco, but the price is the Lowest @ Amazon.com

I will keep buying it ONLY from Amazon , as long as I need it

and recomend the same for others.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE best infant formula., September 17, 2004

my two-month old baby really loves enfamil. believe or not at one time we were using 3 major brands of infant formula at the same time: similac, enfamil and good start. i'd say nutrition wise they are very close to each other except that enfamil has Lipil, a special blend of DHA and ARA. but what makes enfamil outstanding is that it is very easy to disolve in water and generates almost no bubble. in that aspect, frankly i'd say similac has the worst performance and actually this is the major reason we want to give up with similac.

There are several brands and formulas out there, and it is clear for us that Enfamil Lipil w/Iron is the best one. We has been using it to feed our first and only daughter since she was 3 months old, with excellent results. The down side is that Enfamil Lipil w/Iron is the most expensive of all Enfamil and other brands' formulas. I am not sure that the difference in prince is justified thought. But we just do not want to change now the formula that our daughter is already used to. The Amazon's price for this can is the best I ever found.

Enfamil LIPIL is, in my opinion, the best baby formula around. The powder is very smooth so it's easy to measure and it doesn't get clupmy and sticky in humid weather which Similac formula is terrible for. Less foamy bubbles in the top of the bottle and they break down faster than Similac. I switched my daughter to this when she was about 5 mos old and with the combination of this and Dr. Browns bottles she was spitting up way less and she was less cranky and slept better and she was more regular. We had more bouts of constipation with Similac. Enfamil has MUCH better money saving checks than Similac too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Next best thing to breastmilk!, November 7, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Enfamil Lipil Milk-Based Formula With Iron, Powder 25.7 oz (Health and Beauty)
I am so happy to have found a product as wonderful as Enfamil with Lipil! After 6 weeks of breastfeeding my son, I endured complicatiosn which made it so that I would no longer be able to breastfeed. At first I was very concerned about this, as I had not wanted him to be formula fed, but my pediatrician recommended Enfamil with Lipil, and my son is healthy, strong, advanced for his age, and thriving in general. We did try one other formula which made him constipated and gassy, but the Enfamil makes him have bowel movements just like when he was on breastmilk. I feel very good about feeding my son Enfamil with Lipil. It is a quality product and I recommend it to any mother who is unable to breastfeed or simply chooses not to.
